Essex

Essex has several interesting stops including a variety of artists shops, a Cape Ann Marina and the Essex Shipbuilding Museum.

Rockport

Rockport is to the Northeast of Gloucester. This beautiful community looks down on Gloucester harbor and the Atlantic. The community features homes set on rugged but beautiful land.

Near Rockport, Massachusetts, the Cape Ann Light Station National Historic Landmark stands on Thacher Island National Wildlife Refuge and is also accessible by boat only. The lighthouse, built in 1861, replaced a 1771 beacon the last constructed in the American colonies under British rule. The 1771 structure was the first lighthouse built to mark a dangerous spot along the coast, rather than just a harbor entrance.

Manchester-By-The-Sea

Manchester-By-The-Sea is another of the small towns of Cape Ann.

The Town of Manchester-by-the-Sea was included in a grant of land to the Massachusetts Bay Colony made in 1629 by Charles I.

Prior to the settlers' arrival, the Agawams, a tribe of the Algonquins, inhabited the area.

With a 12.8 mile tidal shore line, Manchester is known for its beautiful beaches, a renowned yachting harbor, and commercial lobstering.
