Captain America has been a superhero since before World War II. He has shown a resurgence in popularity with the 2011 Captain America: The First Avenger movie, and shall soon return as a major part of the long awaited superhero epic, The Avengers which is premiering on May 4, 2012.

This is 12.75" diameter shield that is perfect for a younger childs costume or just to play around with. It is made of a durable plastic and while it will not deflect bullets or Thors Hammer, it is strong and fairly durable plastic, as long as you child does not sit on it or jump on it, the shield shold last a long time.
The linked shield is not the only Captain America shield option, either.
There is also a slightly smaller Captain America Shield that is made to be thrown. (If is roughly the weight of a professional grade frisbee at 175 grams.

For the price this Captain America Action figure is a real steal.

With a price-tag of $150 dollars (when on sale on Amazon) this fine carving is more of a toy for adults than children. But it has fine artwork and amazing detail work that every grown up child who enjoys captain America will surely love. Since it is a limited edition series, these are quite collectible and eventually could be worth some money (as all collectibles). A great Captain America toy for the grownup.
