That's Me!
Born in Fort Worth, raised in Dallas, Texas. I'm a proud Texan and couldn't see myself living anywhere else. I'm from the north side of the city and the south side of the suburbs. Sorta makes me a rough-edged soccer mom. I am aggressively intimidating and like it that way. Smile! Or don't. Either way the sun will rise in the east.

Two years ago, I spent 80% of my time trying to 'save' the fallen and falling. There were nights that I would speed across town going somewhere 30 miles away at 85 mph because someone I knew or recently met needed help A.S.A.P.Today, I'm not as busy but still touching bases and hoping all hold steady. I believe in helping anyone who needs help and lending a hand up. This is not referring to those who do not help themselves. If I do not see a return on my investment, I will pull out. I have no desire or time to be 'used' or taken advantage of. Otherwise, I'm glad to lend a hand, ear, few bucks, lunch or whatever I can to help. Oh, and I have no tolerance for lying or liars.

Too many times I stumble upon a child who doesn't deserve the dish
that they've been served.
Too many times I run into adults who are selfish and leave a child's
presents distraught, tormented, disturbed.
So many times I try to stop the madness, neglect, abuse before they pop.
So many times I try to solve, to save this kid and put them back on top.
They have no heart, their blood runs cold.
Some shouldn't have rights, all they do is scold.
Children are easily wilted flowers that need guidance and room to grow.
They sit and wait, anticipate...we are supposed to help them glow.
Is it too late, do you care to bother?
What have you done,
that was your daughter!

Well...not 'tall' buildings. How bout a medium sized gardening fence? I can do that!
Youth mentoring is the process of matching mentors with young people who need or want a caring, responsible adult in their lives. Adult mentors are usually unrelated to the child or teen and work as volunteers through a community-, school-, or church-based social service program.
Although informal mentoring relationships exist, formal, high-quality mentoring matches made through local or state mentoring organizations are often the most effective.
According to the encyclopedia of informal education:
"The classic definition of mentoring is of an older experienced guide who is acceptable to the young person and who can help ease the transition to adulthood by a mix of support and challenge. In this sense it is a developmental relationship in which the young person is inducted into the world of adulthood."
In 2002, the Institute of Medicine of the National Academy of Sciences published a major report examining after-school and other community programs designed to foster positive youth development. The report concluded that very few after-school programs ?have received the kind of comprehensive experimental evaluation necessary to make a firm recommendation about replicating the program in its entirety across the country.? However, the report singled out mentoring programs modeled after the Big Brothers Big Sisters mentoring program as a rare exception, and recommended its widespread replication.
Saving The World.........impossible!
Helping a friend......imperative!

I have independently been involved with homeless and street kids for the past 4 years via my daughter, who is now at Marine boot camp! I have taken a few into my home, I have consecutively counseled several and have been involved community wide with many. I was a homeless street teen myself and experienced a serious amount of this life(style) through my own eyes and heart. Since those days, I have a drive to help ease the level of pain other kids may be driven toward.
