Car Buying Tips | Car Buyers Guide | Car Dealer Information

It's a buyer's market for the first time in decades.  Thanks to the internet, car shoppers now have access to a wealth of information to keep them informed and help them make a proper decision.

The car dealers are fighting back with new ways to make money.  In this utra-combatative arena, here are tools that will help arm you against what awaits.

Having the information in front of you is important, so I recommend that any useful information you find on the internet, whether it's pricing, tips, or simply a list of inventory for certain dealers, that you should print it out and have it with you when you visit.  What good is advice if you forget to use it all properly?

Connecticut Auto Group

Finding the best car deals in Hartford CT

One of the best parts about selling cars in the NE part of the country is that a lot of them are still "old school". They still treat customers the same way that they did in the 1990s when it wasn't practical or profitable for people to have a lot of information.

Those days have changed. With stores like Hartford Acura Dealers and Hartford Jeep Dodge Dealers offering information openly to their customers, it's no wonder that people drive from all around Connecticut to buy cars there.

Some of their partner stores, like Hartford Saturn Dealers, Hartford Kia Dealers, and Hartford Nissan Dealers, are doing the same, building strong, long-lasting relationships with car buyers across the state and even across the border.

If you are in the area, this car buying tips site strongly recommends Hartford New Car Dealers as the choice for people who want honesty and integrity in automotive sales.

The Trade Difference is All You Need to Know

A lot of auto dealers want you to focus on your payments. They want you to look at your down payment. The only number they don't want you to look at is Trade Difference. Why? Because it's the only number that really means anything in the car deal.

For consumers, it is good that the majority of dealerships are scrapping the old 4-square worksheets. While they were effective in their hay-day as a "shock and awe" negotiating tool, today's buyer is more informed thanks to the Internet.

Picture a car salesman walking back from the manager's office with the work sheet. They put it down in front of you and start pointing at the numbers. First, they point at the cost of their vehicle.

Buying a Car is Like Buying a Shirt

at least in preparation

How long does it take you to buy a shirt? Assuming that it is a planned endeavor (like a new shirt for a special date) and that you want to find the perfect one, what is it that you do?

First, you might check to see if there are any specials at your stores, or you might just head out to the store without looking -- both common practices when buying a car.

Once you're there, you look at colors, styles, sizes -- just like car buying.

You might know exactly what you want, or you might want to try a few on to see how they work for you -- sounds familiar.

Sometimes we'll get a pushy sales associate, while other times they are laid back.

When you find one you want, you decide if it's worth the price. Assuming you looked at the price in the beginning (even though sometimes we try on shirts and test drive cars even though we know we don't want to spend that much money), you now have to decide if the price matches what you're getting. Sometimes, people just get it, regardless of the price.

Finally, we go to the checkout area, make our payment in cash or credit, and we can't wait to try it on.

Buying a shirt and buying a car aren't that different. It's just a matter of scale. So what's the point? Buying a shirt isn't that bad if you look at it the right way. Neither is buying a car.

Automotive Websites: Car Buying Tips

everyone can use a little advice

There are literally thousands of articles, websites, and blogs dedicated to offer tips for people buying cars, especially from car dealers. This is just another one, but it can be so much more.

Here, I would like to compile tips from across the Internet. As a former car salesperson, I have the advantage of sniffing out the tricks that just don't work, whether it's because they are antiquated or simply idiotic. Not all Automotive Purchase Advice is created equal.

An example of a good one is this article on Auto Leasing. Versus taking a stance that leasing is bad or that purchasing is good, or visa versa, it discusses the reality that sometimes it's better for someone to lease a vehicle, while sometimes they should buy.

Car Buying Tips on Listible are an excellent resource with multiple tips and websites with tips, similar to what I am trying to do here. The more tips that are high quality, the better prepared the buyer will be going to the dealership.

A list of some of the articles that I have written can be found on ArticlesFactory Automotive, AC Car Buying, and Ezine Car Buying Guide. I have "let the car out of the bag" with many of these. Others are just common sense points that debunk many of the silly automotive advice articles out there.

Either way, please check back often. I hope to find and post more as time goes by and people go buy.

Car Buying Tips

Shreveport Used Cars
In the Shreveport area, there is a dealer that can be trusted to work honestly with its customers.
Automotive Purchasing Advice
An even larger list of car buying tips. Buying from a dealership is not the easiest thing in the world, particularly for those who do not enjoy confrontation. It is easy to see why being prepared with all of the information available is the best way to go.
Used Cars Minneapolis
One of the great things about being a Toyota dealer is the ability to get the best trade ins on the market. At Burnsville Toyota, that's exactly what their customers get... selection.
Used Cars Richmond VA
The people in the Richmond, VA, area can have faith that Richmond Ford will offer them the best values in preowned vehicles.
Excellent article on Trade Difference
This is one of those that just speaks truth and entertains at the same time.

Car dealers want you to focus on payments and down payment. When you start dealing with trade difference (or total cost of the vehicle if you don't have a trade) you are messing with the amount of money that the dealer, the salesperson, and the sales manager makes. Nobody wants their money messed with under any circumstances.

Read it and learn. Learn and enjoy. Enjoy and pass along to someone else.
San Diego Chevrolet Dealers
When it comes to Corvettes or any other kinds of Chevrolet, the only place shoppers in San Diego need to go is Bob Stall. Their selection, service, and prices are unmatched and they offer consumers the opportunity to make the best overall deal possible.

Car Buying Tip of the Month

Craigslist is Better than Paid Sites

For those who have never used Craigslist.com, it's time to open up to one fo the most active automotive websites on the internet.

You can find just about anything that you want there and sell just about anything you want for free. Four photos, tons of traffic, and without the advertising that normally goes with auto sales, you have a chance of landing a killer deal instead of always being just a few hours too late.

Perhaps the best part about Craigslist is that it's free!
