If your idea of fun is to drive at 90mph down narrow dirt streets through a forest in the pouring rain with a co pilot next to you, occasionally barking things like hard right, soft left or banked staccato, then it's rally you're after. Colin McCray's Rally series is a good choice, with fantastic car handling backed up with excellent visuals.
As far as Grand Prix goes, if you really want realism and an authentic racing experience then check out Grand Prix Legends. It's only for those who really want an involved experience though. The Grand prix series is one cool car racing game but it is not arcade like in any way.
As for car games and internet racing series that has few fans the extremely bland Test Drive 3: Off-Road from Infogrames is not well recieved
Back to cool car racing games from the dirty side. Capture the exact experience of dirt track competition, as you strap in the driver's seat with a realistic racing simulation! I love the dirt track racing series. There latest release is taking Dirt Racing games to the front of the car game internet racing pack. They are the best racing games out there (my opinion). And DTR for the pc is making it easy to change their files to create your own tracks and cars.

Cool car racing game
Customizing car games from the internet
Saturday Night SpeedwayThis customizing car game and polished racing game puts you in the thick of the action but exacts a hefty toll on your PC.
I Downloaded the massive 200 plus MB demo version of Saturday Night Speedway. This took quite a long time, even over our high-speed DSL connection. The program isn't much more efficient when running, either, as it takes up more than 525 mega bites of hard drive space. However, once I saw the mind blowing graphics and listened to the professional soundtrack and effects, I understood why the file for this cool car racing game was so big.
Why it is a fun car game
Saturday Night Speedway gives you a first-person perspective as you pilot your vehicle around a dirt track in either Arcade or Career modes. You can configure just about every aspect of the game, including the controls, all the sound effects, the game vibration, and your car's damage status.
Another car gamer review
this game, even though there are a few bugs that need to be addressed in the multi-player is phenomenal! racing is tight and furious on the ovals. I am still not sure about the road courses but over all i give this game a 9 out of 10, and give it a "must own" rating for fans of dirt track racing!
The number of available car styles and paint jobs is impressive, and I really appreciated the ability to customize individual automotive components to suit the track we were racing on.
I think a wide range of people will enjoy Saturday Night Speedway, but because of the strain it puts on a computer, it might be best for those with higher-end PCs.
An independent review (from a friend)
This very cool car racing game is excellent. The only problem I had was a glitch that caused the game to crash if I set a track record time on certain tracks. Ratbag has the powerslide simulation mastered. This makes their dirt track racing games better than anyone else by far.
If you are a customizing car games internet racing fanatic, you will love this game. Dirt Track Racing 2 (as mentioned above) is also very good and glitch free.

It is hard to imagine a time when video games were not a part of today's culture. The Xbox, Playstation and the Nintendo are all three very popular gaming systems. But the problem was that they were not portable.Playstation Portable, or PSP, is a hot sensation in the gaming community. It allows for gaming while on the go. It also can play movies. So no more long, boring car rides for the kids or for you. The portable Playstation truly addressed the problems of mobile gaming and are going head-to-head with Nintendo DS by providing a great game system that can entertain for hours. The best part is that you do not have to track the PSP or games down in stores. You can find some right here:

Slow down, dude (racing games and music) by Franco Tenelli
My music and video clips from Grand Turismo and other popular video racing games mixed with original footage The beginning of race cars Racing began soon after the construction of the first successful petrol-fueled autos. In 1894, the first contest was organized by Paris magazine Le Perit Journal, a reliability test to determine best performance. But the race was changed to Paris to Rouen 1894. Competitors included factory vehicles from Karl Benz's Benz & Cie. and Gottlieb Daimler and Wilhelm Maybach's DMG. In 1895, one year later, the first real race was staged in France, from Paris to Bordeaux. First over the line was Émile Levassor but he was disqualified because his car was not a required four-seater. An international competition began with the Gordon Bennett Cup in auto racing. The first auto race in the United States took place in Evanston, Illinois on November 28, 1895 over a 87.48-km (54.36 mile) course, with Frank Duryea winning in 10 hours and 23 minutes, beating three petrol-fueled and two electric cars.[1] The first trophy awarded was the Vanderbilt Cup. City to city racing Fernand Gabriel driving a Mors in Paris-Madrid 1903With auto construction and racing dominated by France, the French automobile club ACF staged a number of major international races, usually from or to Paris, connecting with another major city in Europe or France. These very successful races ended in 1903 when Marcel Renault was involved in a fatal accident near Angouleme in the Paris-Madrid race. Eight fatalities caused the French government to stop the race in Bordeaux and ban open-road racing. 1910-1950 The 1930s saw the transformation from high-priced road cars into pure racers, with Delage, Auto Union, Mercedes-Benz, Delahaye, and Bugatti constructing streamlined vehicles with engines producing up to 450 kW (612 hp), aided by multiple-stage supercharging. From 1928-1930 and again in 1934-1936, the maximum weight permitted was 750 kg, a rule diametrically opposed to current racing regulations. Extensive use of aluminium alloys was required to achieve light weight, and in the case of the Mercedes, the paint was removed to satisfy the weight limitation, producing the famous Silver Arrows. See: Grand Prix motor racing Single-seater racing Main article: Open wheel racing A modern Formula One car: Michael Schumacher's Ferrari at the 2005 United States Grand Prix.Single-seater (open-wheel) racing is one of the most popular forms of motorsport, with cars designed specifically for high-speed racing. The wheels are not covered, and the cars often have aerofoil wings front and rear to produce downforce and enhance adhesion to the track. The best-known variety of single-seater racing, Formula One, involves an annual World Championship for drivers and constructors of around 18 races a year featuring major international car and engine manufacturers such as Ferrari, Mercedes-Benz (McLaren), BMW (Sauber), Toyota, Honda, and Renault in an ongoing battle of technology and driver skill and talent. The sport is one of the top five watched sporting events in the world, alongside the FIFA World Cup, the Olympic Games, the Super Bowl and the UEFA European Football Championship. Formula One is, by any measure, the most expensive sport in the world, with some teams spending in excess of $400 million per year. Formula One is widely considered to be the pinnacle of motorsports, with the F1 Drivers' Championship being one of, and the oldest among, only three World Championships awarded each year by the FIA (the others being the World Touring Car Championship and the World Rally Championship). In North America, the cars used in the National Championship (currently Champcars and the Indy Racing League) have traditionally been similar though to a lower level of sophistication as F1 cars with more restrictions on technology aimed at helping to control costs. Other single-seater racing series are the A1 Grand Prix (unofficially often referred to as the "world cup of motorsport"), GP2 (formerly known as Formula 3000 and Formula Two), Formula Nippon, Formula Renault 3.5 (also known as the World Series by Renault, succession series of World Series by Nissan), Formula Three, Formula Palmer Audi and Formula Atlantic. There are other categories of single-seater racing, including kart racing, which employs a small, low-cost machine on small tracks. Many of the current top drivers began their careers in karts. Formula Ford represents a popular first open-wheel category for up-and-coming drivers stepping up from karts. Students at colleges and universities can also take part in single seater racing through the SAE Formula Student competition, which involves designing and building a single seater car in a multidisciplinary team, and racing it at the competition. This also develops other soft skills such as teamwork whilst promoting motorsport and engineering.
