Living in Spain without frustration
We've been living in Spain for about 4 years now. When you move from Nothern Europe, it takes some time before you're acclimatised to the Spanish way of living. Everyone knows the Spanish don't like to plan anything and aren't too concerned with rules and laws. Here's short story how we've been able to manage the last four years...
Road work
Avoiding holes in the roads
Even worse, sometimes they repair the holes with concrete and place a bucket on top. If you don't watch out, you will hit it with even more damage!
During heavy rainfall the holes fill up and you can't even see them!
I used to go to the repair shop every two months to have the wheels balanced, but it's better to just avoid the holes, by driving 20km an hour....

Dents in your car
How to avoid dents in your car
Anyway, if you go shopping and park your car somewhere, make sure there's plenty of space between them, because if you don't, you will find your car with dents on the side, from (wildly) opened doors. Or better, park somewhere were they can't park next to you, on corners or next to an invalid space.
If you're parked in a line, just make sure you have so much space between the cars in front of you and behind you, or you will find your car parked in and you can't move.
If you have a rental car, don't worry. It's probably already damaged, so they won't charge you for any minor dents or scratches; It's normal in Spain !
