I hate the cold, yet I love winter snow, did I also say I’m not a morning person?

Nothing is worse than getting into a cold car in the morning to drive to work. So how do I survive the Nebraska cold winter mornings. This year I did not have to freeze my fanny off now when driving to work. My very thoughtful husband gave me a heated car seat cushion for my birthday last fall and it is WONDERFUL!

Yes, that needed capitals and bold, and the exclamation mark, because a warm tush is a happy tush.

Yes I’m a winter wuss, but I love the other seasons in Nebraska so I stay. It’s the little things in life that are luxuries, like a car seat warmer.

If your car did not come equipped with electric heated seats don’t despair. You can get the same warmth and comfort in your automobile for a lot less than paying for a factory installed heated seat.

This heated seat cushion is easily installed in less than five minutes, stretch cords securely fasten under the front seat and around the back. The heat is supplied by plugging in the cord to the cigarette charging plug-in on the dash or console.

My heated seat cushion has a dual control, high and low, and within just a few minutes I feel a radiating warmth on my legs and into my lower back. By the time I’m on the highway (10 minutes) I’m turning the heat to low as I’ve gotten a little toasty. Halfway through my 35 minute commute the car heater is finally catching up and I’m peeling off my gloves and scarf.

By the time I get to work I’m warm, toasty, and in a good mood. Next year, a remote start.

Winter Survival Gear for the Car

Every car should be equipped with emergency supplies and equipment. During the winter the list should also include cold weather gear such as a survival blanket and emergency heat supplies. Getting stuck in a snow drift on the highway can be fatal and if you or your family has to sit for hours before getting rescued.

Great idea! Car seat heaters or Bun Warmers are just what we need here in Vermont on those winter cold mornings.

My daughter moved to Nebraska in August and is experiencing her first real winter as she is a native Texan. This is a great idea that I will pass on to her! BTW, I have a built in seat heater that was a required option in my new car - even though I live in Texas! I love it!

I hope she is enjoying Nebraska, the rest of the seasons are really nice and it's cooler in Nebraska during the summer than in Texas.

I have a friend that has these build into his car. They work in every seat but the drivers. This will be based on as a possible fix for him.

I have a remote car starter and love it! Just need to remember to turn the fan up high and the heat too! Then leave the car for the night and when morning comes, a few minutes before I need to go, CLICK, the car is started and the heat is on high! But without that, I would go for these seat warmers for sure......

How clever that there is a portable heater! Great idea for snow country. All of the products you suggest look good to have. You're probably getting a lot of use out of it right now too! Great lens.

Getting a lot of use out of all of them. I have pocket hand warmers, two car seat heaters in two cars and a split cigarette car charger. The drive in my sons Jeep this morning was a little nippy.

Layers, layers, layers help you enjoy all the great outdoors in winter. I'll stay in when it's really nasty, but most days, I like to get some outside time. I once got so tired of being stuck inside during frigid weather, that I went out running when the temperature was in single digits and finished with icicles hanging from my hair.

By the way, many years ago, when I lived in Buffalo and dreamed of a product like this one, I used to call the fantasy product "bun warmers."

Great idea to have a heated seat installed. I am still debating with my wife over a remote starter.

This is really interesting, and a great invention for staying warm while driving in the winter months.

I say a little prayer of thanks for a toasty tush every time I get in the car in winter. :) If my seat heaters ever stopped working, I'd have to get one of these seat cushions 'pdq' - it is truly remarkable what a difference a heated car seat can make to your comfort level.

I need one of these! I hate being cold, especially in the car.
