Car Warranty Buying Tips and Tricks

Car Warranties can be one of the most confusing maintentance items for any vehicle. There is a ton of conflicting advice out there on whether you should buy a warranty for new cars, used cars, or at all. This is a List of some basic car warranty advice that should help you to get the maximum value for minimum hassle out of a potential vehicle warranty.

Car Warranty Buying Tip #1: Know your Coverage

These days when you buy a new or even a used car they often come with an existing warranty. Ranging from 30 days or a few thousand miles all the way up to several years and a hundred thousand miles or more.

What Kind of Warranty Coverage do you Already Have?

Read your Auto Warranty before you Buy

If your new or used car already has a warranty that you feel meets your needs, it may not be in your best interests to purchase an additional vehicle warranty. My new truck I bought in 2006 had a 3 year 60,000 mile warranty covering some parts of the vehicle and a 5 year 100,000 mile warranty covering other parts. In cases like this it often makes more sense to just put a little money aside each month to cover any unforseen repairs. New cars often don't need major repairs outside of their warranties in the first few years of ownership.

Car Warranty Tip #2 : Know Your Vehicle's History

Does your vehicle model have a history of poor reliability? Go to Kelly Blue Book or the NADA Guide and check your vehicles reliability rating. If it's poor, it may make sense to investigate an extended warranty for your car.

Carchex doesn't sell warranties Jeb. They are simply a service that helps you locate warranties at good prices. You and the carchexsucks website are full of boloney. I hope Car Chex sues that website.

I bought a carchex warranty and they were super helpful until I actually had a repair, then they started to give me the runaround and try to justify denying my claim. Apparently there a number of others who have had similar experiences. Carchex Sucks is a website someone put together that talks about some of these examples www.carchexsucks.com
