What are car auctions and how do they work?
Car auctions take place frequently, many in your own home town that you may not even know about. Law enforcement agencies, the government, banks, or loan companies reposess automobiles of all makes and models daily and put these autos up in said auctions for the taking by the highest bidder.
The best thing about these auctions is that you can get nice, clean, late model cars for thousands less than what you would pay a car lot or an individual seller. For the longest I was skeptical about these auctions and the quality of the kind of car I could get at one of these, but after purchasing my 2006 Ford Mustang at an open house auction a few months ago, I must say that these auctions are most definately the best option for anyone in the market to buy a vehicle.
I love my Mustang, and I only paid a little over seven thousand dollars for it. How much would I have paid at a car lot? After finding a similar Mustang that was the same model year at my local dealer, they told me they wanted over THIRTEEN THOUSAND DOLLARS for almost the same exact car!
So aside from saving over 6 grand on my vehicle I avoided the hassel and pressures of dealing with some sleezy used car salesman, a process I'm far too familiar with over the years. Seized Cars
Quite possibly the best and most detailed auction guide out there.
Seized Cars is the first guide I ran across when considering using an auction to purchase my next car and is by far the most comprehensive one I have found yet. This site has hundreds of thousands of cars, trucks, and SUV's that are up for bid in their database and pretty much whatever you're looking for, they have. Most starting bids are between 300 and 1,000 dollars. I highly recommend that you check these guys out! Government Auctions
The original in auto auction guides. While they have been passed in quality by Seized Cars, they are still a good source to help you find your next automobile at an unbelieveable price.
The original in auction listings, Government Auctions has been around for years. Again, Seized Cars has far more auction listings and access to bidding on many more cars than Gov-Auctions, but this site still holds it's own and membership to the site is a tad cheaper than it's best competitors. While this site may be the least attractive when it comes to number of auctions and vehicles listed, if you're on a budget their membership is the cheapest option.
Car Auction is another fairly known and renowned car auction listing site. Although they are the smallest and have been around the least amount of time, they still have a considerable number of listings and you're sure to come across a ride that you love with them. Their membership costs are almost half that of their competitors, but if you can afford to sign up with Seized Cars or Government Auctions I would probably do that instead. I mean, hey, if you're looking to lay down atleast a couple of thousand bucks on a vehicle, what's 20 extra dollars to make sure you know what all is out there that you can choose from, right? 2. You don't have to deal with annoying salesmen.
3. You have plenty of time to inspect vehicles before auction without being hassled.
