Caraway or Carom (Ajwain) Cookies -- Sweet and Salty Yumminess

Living in India, one cannot avoid tea (chai)... at home, we drink tea twice a day -- at breakfast and during the afternoons. The best way to enjoy tea is to have some great accompaniment (meaning something edible). One of our favorites is the sweet and salty goodness of ajwain cookies or caraway seed cookies.

Ajwain (caraway seeds or carom seeds) are great things. They do have a slightly bitter taste on their own but, in small quantities, they make things taste extra yummy. Also, they are good for the digestive system.

Notes:

-- When kneading the dough and you find some cracks keep appearing, add one or two tablespoons of milk.

-- The cookies tend to come out of the oven soft but no need to worry as they firm up and become crispy as they cool down.

-- Caraway cookies will taste better the day after baking

I'm visit others who finished the cookie quest. When I was a young girl a lovely neighbor used to give my brother and me these cookies. I loved them but my brother didn't so I got to eat his too. Yum! I have never made them but maybe I will now. Blessings.
