.Carbonizm - Today.

Today we are faced with one of the most critical environmental impasses of our times.
The debate over Carbon -Co2 emissions in regards to Global Warming rages on.

I hope to cover the major components regarding this subject here in this writing.
On one side we have the proponents of Carbon Credits and Capp and Trade on the other perhaps supporters of a Carbon Tax.

Now let's take a look at these both for a moment and I will attempt to define them for the sake of this article. You may find slight or complete variations in the definitions elsewhere, however I will as mentioned, attempt to define them for this article.

Carbon Credits Explained: Carbon Credits represent those units (Products or Services) that reduce or limit the release of Co2. This in turn creates a Carbon offset for those Products or Service that do produce potentially harmful Carbon Emissions (Burning of Fossil Fuels).

These units (Carbon Credits) are measured and registered as such and are traded (bought and sold) on the Chicago Carbon Exchange to companies whose products or service produce a larger amount Co2 compared non Co2 producing products that may be associated with their products or services.

When a company cannot produce the Carbon offsets that their Products or Services create the need for, they in turn purchase the needed Carbon offsets AKA Carbon Credits - With the Theory of creating a balance between the two.
Carbon Tax: Would simply place a TAX on those Products or Service that have been determined to produce enough Co2 that would require an offset of the Co2 produced.

Carbon tax, to some is a simplified way of dealing with the need to control, limit and regulate the production of Co2, also known as Greenhouse Gas which is again produced primarily by burning Fossil Fuels.
Carbon Trading Explained:
Carbon Credits, to the other side of the debate allows those who produce Co2 AKA Greenhouse Gas in their Products and Services an option to offset their production of Co2 with the purchase Carbon Credits from those that have an abundance of Carbon Credits due to their Products or Services that nullify or reduce Carbon Emissions (the burning of Fossil Fuels that create Co2/Greenhouse Gases).
In this lays an opportunity to reward those who reduce or nullify Carbon Emissions and penalize those who produce it or allow them redemption through the purchase of Carbon Credits that offset their Co2 production.

One of the ways of rewarding this and creating a bases and a forum to allow regulated transactions is the Chicago Carbon Exchange.
The Chicago Carbon Exchange is where Carbon Credits can be Bought and Sold on the Open Market (Traded).
First your Carbon Credits need to be officially registered so it can be reviewed and identified as a valid Carbon Credit. It is then given a serial number of sorts and then this is the instrument for the trade.

In closing is appears that no matter what you believe - Global Warming IS real or NOT, we can all benefit from the awareness brought to what we are doing to the environment and can now make better conscious decisions regarding it in the future.
