The Lair of Cards

The Lair of Cards Hasn't Collapsed Yet...

The Lair of Cards is one of the Lair's Premium Cafepress LairShops; and the only one dedicated entirely to paper-related products--calendars, stickers, journals, framed prints and such like. I've tossed around the idea of adding a SubLair with a truckload of ceramic ornaments featuring our collection of Neolithic-inspired digital art; but I haven't made a firm decision on that quite yet.

Unlike our Basic LairShops, the Lair of Cards doesn't focus on a particular image or image-theme. Rather, the array of paper products are the theme here; the LairShop now consists of six SubLairs, each devoted to a particular type of paper item--stickers, cards, etc. Several SubLairs, in turn, are further subdivided by size or dimension of item--Cards the Lair Built, for example, has smaller sections for notecards, greeting cards and postcards.

The selection of images is also expanded here, with more digital art images, Irish scenic photos, aerial photos, and images from my adopted hometown of Seattle, Washington. More images are being added all the time; and I hope you will enjoy them and the varied products they show up on!

UPDATE (SUNDAY, JANUARY 1, 2012): Happy New Year, everyone! The Lair of Cards continues to grow and evolve; so far, the bumperstickers are our best sellers! After I return to Seattle from the Christmas holidays, I will soon be unveiling our third annual "Look Out Below" Wall Calendar, featuring the third collection in a series of original aerial photos! Stay tuned and check back often for new stickers, journals, calendars and more!

Dissecting the Lair of Cards

Visiting our SubLairs and All their Various Sections...

There are currently six primary sections to the Lair of Cards. As mentioned above, I've thought about breaking my paper-only rule and adding a SubLair for ceramic ornaments (especially featuring the Neolithic-inspired stuff); but Christmas is over for another year. Meanwhile, I'd like to introduce our six SubLairs, and the assortment of subsections in each one...

1) Journals and Scripts: This is where journals go, and maybe even our original manuscripts in book/ebook form, whenever we get around to publishing them...

2) Our New Calendar Page: Can you fit a day into a two-dimensional square, in rows and columns with other two-dimensional squares? Our calendars attempt to do that very thing, with a mixture of Irish scenic shots, aerial photos, Neolithic digital art pieces and mixed shots from around the United States.

Official LairLogo of Kari's Lair 3) Lair of the Sticker Shock: Lovely adhesive images suitable for sticking on guitar cases, telephone poles, laptops, and your boyfriend's iPod...

4) The Print Gallery: All sorts of lovely items that go on your walls, desk, refrigerator, and the like...

Neolithic HandStrata 5) The PosterLair: The things you mostly tape or pin to hard surfaces, though you can frame them too, if that's your pleasure...

AquaSpiral 6) Cards the Lair Built: Greeting cards, postcards, calling cards, whatever one can print on cardstock...

7) Special Collection: The Clan Ocean Project--The Paper Edition! This will soon be the subject of its own lens: a collection of images serving the cause of preserving the oil-stricken Gulf of Mexico! Meanwhile, do check out this brand new SubLair: a percentage of each sale will be donated to the Gulf Preservation Network, in a special arrangement between that organization and Cafepress...

The Lair of Cards: A Sampling of Highlights...

Aerial photos, Irish scenery, Neolithic-inspired pics, LairMistress merch...

Yes, we know; this store is a little insane. We've got a bunch of images from all of our Basic LairShops, and more besides, as our image collection expands out of control...

The Ceide Fields, County Mayo, Ireland: Video Slideshow.

Stay tuned: more original music/slideshow videos are planned!

For a bit of something different, here is a slideshow video of my visit to the Irish Neolithic agricultural site of Ceide Fields, in northern County Mayo, Ireland, in April 2006. The audio on this collection is an excerpt of an outdoor lecture given by a guide at the Ceide Fields Museum on April 4, 2006. All images © 2006 by Karen I. Olsen. The rows of rocks in the photos are the excavated portions of Neolithic field walls. Yeah, really!

So, How Do You Like the Lair of Cards?

Yes, we know that the Lair of Cards is still in development, and new products will be added soon to flesh out the various sections. We're hoping for at least a dozen items per subsection. Aside from this little glitch, what do y'all think?
