What is Cards Against Humanity?

How this outrageous card game first came to be

Cards Against Humanity on KickstarterOriginally developed for a New Year's Eve party, Cards Against Humanity got its big break on Kickstarter, a website that helps people fund creative projects with donations from web-surfers around the world. The Cards Against Humanity creators set their initial fundraising goal at just $4,000 and ended up raising more than $15,000!

Hitting the $15,000 mark on Kickstarter allowed the game's creators to add 50 new cards to the original deck. Cards Against Humanity first became available for purchase on Amazon in June and immediately climbed to #1 on the website's Toys and Games bestseller list.

How can I get a FREE copy of Cards Against Humanity?

Yes, you can download the cards for FREE!

The creators of Cards Against Humanity know that you don't really want to shell out your hard-earned cash for a card game -- even one as enjoyable as theirs. So what did they do? They gave their incredibly popular creation a Creative Commons license that allows people to download, print and play their game for FREE as long as they don't try to sell it.

If you plan to DIY your copy of Cards Against Humanity, you'll need (1) heavy white card stock, (2) a paper cutter, (3) a high-quality printer and (4) a container to hold your completed cards. Since you're most likely trying to save money by creating your own copy of Cards Against Humanity, plan to visit Staples, FedEx or another similar store where black-and-white printing costs 10 cents per page or less.

To download the cards for free, head on over to the Cards Against Humanity website.

Why Should I Buy Cards Against Humanity Online?

Five reasons why you should purchase the game on Amazon

  • 1Cards Against Humanity costs just $25 on Amazon and comes with FREE shipping! That's pretty much the equivalent of five iced coffees at Starbucks -- or one sleeve of a cashmere J.Crew sweater.
  • 2DIY'ing your copy of Cards Against Humanity will only save you about $2. Why? Well, a pack of 80 lb. card stock will cost you about $15 at Staples and printing the 28-page PDF will cost another $3 at FedEx. Don't forget to tack on another $5 if you plan to purchase a small container to hold your cards.
  • 3You'll probably end up printing them on plain old copy paper when you realize how surprisingly expensive card stock is. Sure, it'll only cost you $3, but you'll most likely end up having to reprint some of the cards when they get ripped, wet or otherwise destroyed.
  • 4Ordering Cards Against Humanity online takes about two minutes. DIY'ing your copy of the game will last at least two hours.
  • 5The brand new Cards Against Humanity expansion pack is NOT available for download. The expansion comes with 100 new cards -- including 12 blank cards that let you add your own inside jokes to the game! -- and costs $10 on Amazon.

But before I kill you, Mr. Bond, I must show you ___.

It costs you nothing if you print them at work.

Just in case anyone reads this, I printed my CAH set at Staples and it only cost about $5 including paper. You can take a flash drive to their printing desk and they will print the cards on card stock. It was 5 cents per black and white page printed + 7 cents per page of paper. I cut them out myself, so it cost no where near $25!
