How to recognize the mystic reality, care for and nurture mystics
Historically The Mystic Reality or mystic consciousness, especially in western countries, has been highly misunderstood by many levels of consciousness in society. Instead of the mystic body being cared for and nurtured, often the mystic has been alienated, or worse, hunted and killed. This lens describes how to recognize the mystic reality, how to understand where mystics are coming from, what the Presence of God and the mystic aura, or "benediction" means, what the mystic reality is, how it is that "Self-Realized" mystics are different from typical society members, and how to nurture and care for them.

The Mystic Reality Characteristics
Mystic Reality Characteristics
Self-Realized souls released from worldly karma
How do you know if someone's a mystic? What is a mystic? What is the mystic reality? It could be said that a mystic is a body that remains active on Earth after Self-Realization. The mystic is someone who puts Reality of What Is above 'typical' egoistic programming that projects via the animal and intellectual minds.
Are the mystics the same as saints? Not always- often mystics appear to be cryptic and blunt, not necessarily the epitome of saintliness. Other mystics are so intoxicated by Love they appear to be divinely drunk- again, not the image that typically comes to mind when we think of mystics. One way or another, most mystics leave society, because a transcendence of the intellect as being the source of survival has occurred. The mystic knows that all of lIfe is supported by the Higher Power that has created the manifestation of the material world.
The mystic knows how to 'tap into' this energy by holding in mind what's required to work in the material world. In this way, the mystic consciously brings tools for survival into their life- they do not rely on the karma of action and consequence.
Is the mystic the same as someone suffering from schizophrenia? No, even if the mystic sees visions, it is by internal realization, not psychosis. The mystic would not 'suffer' from schizophrenia, nor be a burden to the world or society. The mystic's presence is one that radiates love and benignity, the mystic is not disorganized or deluded internally, although they may be interpreted as such by society that has limited frame of reference available to contextualize the inner subjective reality of the mystic. A true mystic is Self-Realized; I am not speaking to the slang interpretation of the word 'mystic' that is used commonly to describe clairvoyants, channelers, card readers etc. The mystic is not involved in linear activities of the material domain, unless it is useful for an inquirer's spiritual progress. A true mystic does not advertise as a 'mystic' as an umbrella term for being 'spiritual'. The mystic does not identify with terms, but essence.
The Mystic is not of this World
The Inner Silence of The Mystic
They may appear to be in the world, but they are not of it
Mystics do not operate in the world the same way most people do. They identify with the Silence of the Self vs the chatter of the world or the conflicting ego. They do not attend events for psychics in order to predict or proselytize; the connection to Reality is internally realized and shared by benediction (power not force). Mystics do not 'believe' in the programming of the world as being 'real'. Mystics see that the world is a projection of subjective realities that are not coming from 'out there' but from 'inside' the perceiver; thus, the mystic places no value on the edifying of content. A mystic doesn't analyze the words that are spoken, but discerns the essence behind them, so they often appear disinterested in what other body's are saying. When a body is lying, the mystic knows that essence and appearance are out of alignment.
The internal subjective reality of the mystic is that of silence, unless thought is willingly brought into awareness. Every thought there ever was is contained in this silence. The mystic knows that the field of creation is the ultimate controller- and that thoughts are not 'personal', nor are they owned. Ideas cannot be attributed to individuals but to a collective that has grown since the inception of the ego; the knowledge of this general consciousness is available to the mystic via discernment, and doesn't require investigation via the senses in any linear realms for proof. Don't ask the mystic for their opinion, because they don't have one, but ask them about the essence of a situation and they will say what is. They don't believe in the core of the ego that presents beliefs in order to form opinions, but in the essence of actuality as the unmanifest becomes manifest. Asking a mystic their opinion of the world of perception is like asking them to make up a story; asking them for the subjective truth will bring forth the only Truth.
The Presence of a Mystic
The Presence of a Mystic
Is a Divine gift
If you have a mystic in your life, you are very blessed, and it's because you asked for it. You are not in the mystic's life the same way the mystic is in yours; you are essence to the mystic, not just appearance. The presence of a mystic in one's life is an incredible gift not to be taken lightly. Historically, saints have been recognized as such, as have genuine gurus and buddhas, usually from Easterm countries. Mystics, however, as the definition goes, usually have nothing to do with religion. Christ is an example- he was the Source of Christianity, he did not teach a religion. There is usually no religious organization that backs the mystic while the mystic is alive- because the mystic is in connection with God as a way of being, and needs no physical structure (church) or other bodies to support that. This bone of contention has been the cause of many mystic killings over the centuries. The mystic, as I said, can bring all tools needed for survival into their lives simply by holding thought in mind, or releasing all thought and surrendering all outcomes. It is rare that the mystic purposefully manifests anything, because the mystic's perspective that there is a difference between the unmanifest and the manifest is lacking. To the mystic, it's all the same. To have a body, or not to have a body, it's all the same. Yet, the mystic appears to others as simply a body, subject to the same laws everyone else is subject too (ie science). Because of this, the mystic doesn't need other people in their life in the same way; God or Self is realized as the sole supporter. This realization attracts people to the mystic, because ultimately, everyone is seeking to realize the presence of God as Self.
The mystic is not interested in the past or the future and only exists in the Now. The now is like a finished puzzle to the mystic- whereas, to the average person, the peace of the now is threatened by both past regrets and future anticipations. In this way, mystics have been rejected from society because it appears they don't 'co-operate' within social standards. They don't place the same importance on the future or the past that people typically do. A mystic doesn't believe a 'future' paycheck is necessary for survival, for instance. Mystics literally live on Love and it's abundance, and that abundance radiates from them to all. That is the gift they give by their presence in our lives, and it is up to us to care for and nurture that gift if we want it to stay there.
The Mystic and Society
Mystic Treatment
East vs West
In India, a Self-Realized soul is granted 'special' provisions in society. It is expected that society will, out of respect and honor for the fact the mystic has stayed on the planet, care for their bodies. In India mystics are not expected to work and function in society, but to be available to teach. A well known Indian mystic, Guru to the father of Paramahansa Yogananda, Lahiri Mahasaya, was a married householder when he became Self-Realized. Out of respect for the condition of enlightenment lacking a functioning ego and what that means for worldly functioning and the continuation of prior roles, Lahiri was relieved of his household and parenting duties. His wife became a follower and relinquished him from husband duties. This was all done with great honor, happiness and respect. Historically, western mystics who leave the world are condemned, banished, alienated and often left homeless. I can think of one potential example of a 'thrown away' mystic that lived off the kindness of the Apalachian Trails when society cast him aside.
The Mystic Contributions
How to Care For a Mystic
The Mystic Body
It is a means to communicate
The body, to the Mystic, is quite like any other vehicle for communication. It is looked upon like a car, or an appliance. It is quite appropriate to put the body/car in the garage (go out of body) when it's not needed and to use other means of exploration. The mystic body is kept up to serve its purpose, yet it is not something to glorify or glamorize. The car may be parked in the garage for shelter, but it's not maintained beyond its essentials. The car is kept in gas and oil and it's inner workings in good condition. It's outer appearance matters not to the mystic. The mystic body is like a pet, a lovely companion. It serves to communicate with other bodies and has a karmically dictated time limit for serving its purpose. The body is (not 'was', as consciousness becoming manifest is an ongoing process) manifest for a purpose; this fact is known to the Mystic yet to the population is covered by the amnesia of birth trauma. A common misconception is that bodies are manifested somehow without the spiritual owners of them knowing how they came to be, or whence they came. The Mystic is aware the body materialized via intention; life is not limited to the timing of the body's birth and death like the truck driver's income is perceived to be limited to the life of his truck. The Mystic has transcended the pattern of birth and death and realizes the eternal Oneness of consciousness as ongoing Creation: the truck driver is the one who eternally brings to manifest all the trucks he needs to keep driving. The Mystic realizes the karmic story continues wherever perception perceives; the Mystic has transcended the body by dropping perception of it. Perception is a choice on every level, including the physical. The realization that one body can serve all purposes for communication in one lifetime; this one, has occurred and with that, blocks to serving that purpose are removed. Just like the car, the body doesn't experience it's purpose- the driver does. And like a driver who discovers flying, the Mystic understands that the body is not the only means of creating movement in the manifest world; it is actually the consciousness behind the intention that produces the physical form. The Mystic answers the chicken/egg question- consciousness came first. The Mystic cares for this creation of consciousness called the body, just as we care for a car we've intentionally acquired. We know cars need gas. As do bodies. More importantly, cars need an owner to look upon them, and turn the key before they'll go. It is the same for bodies and consciousness; there is no life in a body without consciousness.
Caring For Mystics
Realize Self
When Ramana Maharshi's ego collapsed as a teenager, his body fell down in the forest and laid there for two weeks. By the time people who recognized the condition of enlightenment came by, the body was still breathing and was covered in scratches and bug bites. It appeared there was no personality there to motivate the body; yet, the body persisted. He hadn't eaten, drank or moved. The body was taken back home and nursed back to health.
The experience left Maharshi mute for two years before the energy arose to speak of it, and during this time his physicality was nurtured and cared for. The benefits of the presence of a mystic are well known in India. In the west, the bodies of enlightened beings are not cared for as they are in the east and mental illness is most often the term, at least initially, used for awakening, enlightenment, or the state of illumination.
To care for a mystic is easy. In many ways, depending on where they are at in their spiritual journey, mystics are like innocent children. The programming that typical folks are run by does not exist for mystics. Ramana Maharshi was clearly in a state of bliss to not have noticed the bugs crawling on him- there is no other explanation. Being in this state, one can appear drunk, or dirty and disheveled and one can appear to make foolish decisions. But any personality coming from a mystic is a reflection of the personalities that are around him or her. A mystic no longer has a personality and must energize old programming in order to interact on an appearances level.
To make it easier for the mystic to conserve energy, don't bring the mundane to the mystic and ask for it to be sorted; they have no preference. If you want, give to the mystic, but understand that a true mystic has no concern for money, approval, physical contact or trinkets. (Realize, that most people who appear to be mystics are actually mystical, spiritual, nice, friendly, clairvoyant, empathic, caring, kind, etc., but not Self-Realized; they still have an operating ego/personality whereas the mystic has transcended the ego).
The best way to care for a mystic is to work on one's own Self-realization. To help the mystic conserve physical energy, care for the mystics body only, beyond that, the care is directed to one's own spiritual work. Questions about the mundane are answers for you to discover on the journey to Self-realization. Don't go to the mystic with information or drama seeking specialness; the mystic has transcended information, specialness and drama. Share the Silence with the mystic and realize the subjective experience of the Presence of God, because that is what they are here to share. Anything else is like telling a story, to the mystic.

Interacting With Mystics
Surrender content
1. Mystics have transcended time as we know it. Calendars, clocks, day, night are of no importance to the mystic beyond maintaining appropriate interaction with other bodies (ie accountability). Mystics can spend days without sleep when they are focused on the kundalini energy that's bringing forth something for use in the material world. Because of this capacity, to care for mystics is to allow them to operate on their own 'schedule' and not impose restrictions based on perceptual meaning. The mystic often appears to be very active for periods of time, and then to literally disappear when they are 'recovering' from energy expense in the world. They can spend equal amounts of time meditating in bed, as if there is no one there. During these times, caring for the mystic is especially easy- because it's best they are left alone. It takes a lot of energy to come out of deep, peaceful, expansive meditative communion with God and then interact on more focused levels. The mystic's body is constantly 'at the mercy' of massive amounts of energy- and this has consequences for protoplasm. When the mystic's body is inactive, rest is absolutely imperative, and other bodies can be assured that the mystic is active on a spiritual level- which in fact can be much more powerful for mankind than for the mystic to interact.
2.Mystics have transcended the body. They realize there is a body, but it is no longer 'their' property but a vehicle of Divinity. The body serves as a means of communicating Love to fellow bodies. This is the 'why' of a mystic 'staying on earth' vs leaving the body altogether. Generally it is by prior agreement that the mystic remains; the mystic knows there is a job or role to fulfill. The mystic's purpose is fulfilling this role, and then when it's done, they leave the body. In the meantime, the body is viewed as useful, and a means to appear in the material world. To interact with a mystic- try to see yourself as spirit and not just flesh. The mystic does not take notice of flesh, or appearance, but of essence. The mystic reads the 'aura' or field of a level of consciousness before it becomes flesh. In this way, other bodies are masks, or screens, or blocks to the essence. When body language, tone, vocabulary don't match up with essence, the mystic is aware of this and may be compelled to either point it out, or retreat until the other consciousness realizes the imposition. Presenting yourself 'out of alignment' with truth in this way, to a mystic, is very draining. Seek Self.
3. Mystics have transcended the need for planning. Mystics realize that there is no doer of deeds beyond an assortment of beliefs and programs operating. The planner of plans and doer of deeds is karma in action, and the mystic has transcended this cycle. Asking a mystic what they're doing tomorrow is a question that can only be answered by, "I'll know when it's done". The mystic realizes that conditions are always changing, that life is not a static but a dynamic event. The mystic places no importance on the thought of how an event 'should' take place. In fact, the word 'should' is not one that occurs to the mystic, because the mystic doesn't deny or try to wish upon what is to be something different. Don't go to a mystic with all of the 'shoulds' and 'shouldn'ts in your life, because they don't exist for the mystic. Release them.
4. Mystics have transcended the personality. The personality is activated at the level of the audience as needed. It is no longer operating within the Silence of the subjective reality, but it is put to use as needed. Mystics remain apart from social interaction because it takes energy to bring up the old personality and it's programming to suit various situations. Transcendence of the ego doesn't wipe out the data from the mind, it just releases the Self from the competing programs. To the mystic, appearances become about appropriateness, but not about future projections. For instance, just because a mystic appeared and seemed to facilitate resolution of a certain issue doesn't necessarily mean they'll reappear next time. There's no predictable pattern to a mystics 'operations' as the body is not being moved about by a predictable agent. Don't ask the mystic to be predictable, to join a cause, to take a side. They may nod and seem to agree, perhaps they are simply being appropriate. There are no sides, no causes, and no thoughts of difference to the mystic as the essence of love is always Present as the basis for all else. The Presence of God is unaltered by life's content. Surrender content.
