Care Of Pet Turtles And Illness
Most turtle illnesses happen because of improper diet and lack of natural sunlight. If you have a sick turtle on your hands, make sure that you always isolate the sick turtle from others. This will ensure that you won't have a whole tank of sick turtles on your hands. As a safety precaution when getting a new turtle, you should always keep it isolated for three months and watched in case disease symptoms arise before placing them in with others. The common diseases are fungal in nature and will appear on the flesh and shell which can usually be taken care of by adding salt to water.
Care Of Pet Turtles And Heating Your Aquarium
A good heat source is a must if you want to care for your pet turtles properly. The heat should be maintained between 75 and 85 degrees Fahrenheit. A small lamp for heating should be placed over the basking area. Turn the lamp on during the day and off during the night in order to simulate day and night hours. For more information on taking care of your new pet go to: Care Of Pet Turtles
Care Of Pet Turtles And Keeping The Tank Clean
Turtles are very messy eaters by nature, so feed them in separate bowls - this will lessen your cleaning duties. Water should be changed every two days if you do not use a filter and every 4 or 5 days if you do. I think it is best to use a filter, the water will be much cleaner and your pet turtle will thank you for it!This also depends on the size of your tank as larger tanks require you to change the water fewer times. Scrub the sides of the tank or cage to remove any bacteria. Change filters regularly.
