Special Gifts to Thank the Caregiver in Your Life
Whether it is a mother caring for a child, a son caring for an aging parent, a rehab nurse helping a stroke patient or a hospice nurse caring for a cancer patient caregivers are very special, but often unrecognized providers of the tender loving care needed during challenging times. As Marcia Wallace noted, "Being a caregiver is the most thankless role in the world."
Giving a special gift like a book, caregiver pin, pocket card, charm, heart, jewelry, pampering kit or gift basket is a way to let the caregiver in your life know you are grateful for all of the love and care that they are providing. A caregiver gift can be a small token of your gratitude.

The Violet Heart Collection for Caregivers
The Violet Heart image "grew" emerging like flowers in the spring after a long winter...inspired by the violet flower and the Purple Heart award. The Violet Heart design combines the courage of the Purple Heart, the tears shed by a sorrowful spirit, the healing nature of the color violet with the hope of spring violets to represent courage, healing and hope. The original design is a violet-purple heart, the later design a white heart with violet-purple accents, but both highlight the tear inside the heart as a simple way of revealing behind the smile, a heart is crying.

Caregiver Hearts
Give a Heart to Your Caregiver
The photograph of a heart-shaped Tiger Eye, "Wear your heart on the palm of your hands" from Irum was the beautiful image that I chose to represent Caregiver Gifts.
I went in search of the meaning of the Tiger Eye gemstone and discovered, serendipitously, that this stone is also a good one for caregivers.
According to Gemstone Gifts, Tiger Eye is thought to promote balance and strength to get through difficult phases of life. It also helps to relieve doubt and bestows decision making with vision and clarity. In addition, Tiger Eye helps one to be practical, a trait very much needed while a caregiver.
Crystal Curestates of the healing properties of Tiger Eye, that "it makes one aware of one's own needs related to the needs of others."
Finally, the Gemstone Dictionary writes that Tiger Eye draws upon the best qualities of a Tiger: patience, focus and determination, all traits of caregivers.

Caregiver Gift of Time
Give the Gift of Time with Lotsa Helping Hands
Perhaps one of the greatest gifts one can give to a caregiver, is the gift of time. One way to give time to a caregiver is through organizations like Lotsa Helping Hands.Lotsa Helping Hands is a simple, immediate way for friends, family, colleagues, and neighbors to assist loved ones in need--developed for those times when friends and family need help. The Lotsa Helping Hands organization is a way for caregivers, eldercare, parenting, military families and others to organize communities of support.
They allow users to create a free of charge, private, web-based community to organize family, friends, neighbors, and colleagues - a family's 'circles of community.'
Their mission is to "provide the communication resources facilitating a world where caregivers feel empowered to ask for help, and in so doing, improve their own health and quality-of-life; volunteers can become part of the solution when family, friends, neighbors or colleagues are in need of help, and community becomes a recognized way to find meaning in both giving and receiving."
