Caribbean Flower Arrangements

Cut flower arrangements containing Birds of Paradise, Hibiscus, Orchids, Heliconia, Anthurium and other exotic, tropical plants conjure up images of the Caribbean. Some of these flowers are native to the Caribbean Islands whereas others have been introduced over time by colonists. Whether you're ordering an arrangement as a gift for someone, wanting to brighten your own home with a West Indies flair, or just looking for inspiration on designing your own Caribbean cut flower arrangement, you'll find plenty of inspiration from these bouquets, centerpieces and floral designs.

A Caribbean hearth

As designed by Coastal Living Magazine

tropical Caribbean hearthplace flowers

Coastal Living magazine's Tropical Tidings feature suggests that you do the following

For an island-appropriate holiday theme, trade traditional poinsettias for tropical plants such as anthurium, heliconia, bird of paradise, and protea. Keep the blooms fresh by placing them in water-filled glass vases. For clean, sophisticated mantel-toppers, place green apples and Key limes inside cylindrical glass containers. Flowers, greenery, cylinders, and sconces available at floral stores.

In their photo, it looks like they've used pink ginger flowers and wreaths of greenery. Of course this would make a stunning tropical holiday hearth, but I feel the design holds up any day of the year!
