I Can Write Your Ad Copy
Here is an example just to show you that I can help you sell just about anything!
~ The Jest Furniture Catalog ~
Shown above, The Hazleton Sofa.
Image at right, shown in plain fabric.
My Old Couch
The Hazleton Sofa
Loose Back Cushions (not included)
2 Loose Seat Cushions
Welted, 9" skirt
96 " w x 38 " d x 39 " h
Requires large opening for delivery. Warranty expired.
Featured here is our Hazleton Sofa, an extra long at 96 inches, in a navy velvet brocade with a gold leaf pattern upholstery. This multi-functional piece is useful as a seating for your home theater, a spare bed for company, a chaise for reading and reclining. It even is useful as a scratching post and a kneading cushion for the family cats.
The sofa's classic design, one that the owner desired since her teen years, has a low back and curved side arms with a roll. A bottom skirt surrounds the sofa, and though it has come unstapled in a spot, it has been tacked up with some small nails. Formerly having five oversized fringed back cushions (don't ask), it makes a great place to lend your creativity and display any arrangement of coordinating bolsters and side pillows (not included), surely a decorator piece.
The fairly good construction of this sofa, which claimed high end status, owes itself to a kiln dried frame, eight-way hand-tied springs, Dacron wrapped high density foam cushions and padding. This couch has survived several moves. Although the center cross bar, was broken it was easily replaced and with the added support of a piece of thin foam mattress under the seat cushions, this sofa remains as cozy as could be. A conversation piece for many family discourses and friendly chats, this couch is as comfortable as an old friend.
Purchased at a 50% discount as a floor model in the millenial year of 2000, the original price was $1,050. The current owners are willing to part with it for an additional 50% reduction, a mere $525.00; enough to set towards a replacement.

~ Rainbow Turkey Farm ~HOME OF FARM FRESH
NATIVE DOMESTIC TURKEYS
The Rainbow Turkey Farm selectively breeds Native Domestic White Turkeys for purchase when grown and also as poults for those who wish to raise their own. Our Native Domestic White Turkeys are raised on the premises with care and organically grown using only the best, high protein and drug-free, grain for better quality. Each year we sell about 1,000 Rainbow Turkeys.
We attribute the delicious taste of our turkeys to the birth-to-roasting pan treatment. Nothing tastes better than a fresh bird! Countless families have enjoyed Rainbow Turkeys for meals and celebrations at home and in local restaurants. We hope you will too!
LET'S TALK TURKEY!
Historicity
The origin of the name is unclear, but some interesting theories exist. Christopher Columbus thought the New World was connected to India. He called the unusual bird "tuka," which is peacock in the Tamil language of India. Another tale says the merchants who sold turkeys in Spain changed the Tamil "tuka" to the Hebrew "tukki," which then evolved into the English "turkey." Others maintain the American Indian name for the bird was "firkee." Another theory says the present name "turkey" came from the alarm call of the bird, which sounds something like "turc, turc, turc."

Journalism
~ Tall Tales ~In October of 2004 National Geographic Magazine reported a remarkable new human species had been discovered by Australian scientists Mike Morwood and Peter Brown in a cave on Flores, a remote Indonesian island. At the finding of a single skull and other skeletal fossils, the new species ws named Homo floresienses after the island of discovery. This was described as "one of the most spectacular discoveries in paleoanthropology in half a century". Researchers were amazed to discover that there was another upright, bipedal creature walking the planet at the same time as modern humans. The 2004 theory asserted that these Hobbits traveled to the island about 840,000 years ago and later evolved into the new species and that there was no human migration to the island until they died out about 18,000 years ago. It was explained that their miniature size was an adaptive evolutionary response to being stranded on a small island with limited resources.
This "new" human species was a wee little one that grew no larger than the average modern 3 year old child and had a skull the size of a grapefruit and described as the smallest "species" ever discovered. It wasn't long before dig workers dubbed it's new nickname, "Hobbit", after the pint size Lord of the Rings characters. Several skeletons were discovered, but the original skeleton was a female who stood about 3.3 feet tall and weighed about 55 pounds. She was about 30 years old when she died, supposedly about 18,000 years ago. I guess the scientists didn't realize that it is not polite to discuss a woman's age, no less her weight, or the size of her brain! It's just not politically or socially correct.

I wrote this piece as a "letter to the editor" in 1993 during a year of particular hardship. It has been published on three occasions.
~ Jesus, The Real Gift of Christmas ~Dear Editor:
At Christastime in 1897 a little girl named Virginia O'Hanlon inquired of the editor of The New York Sun a question that children have contemplated for years, "Is there a Santa Claus?" Her father had often told her that "If you see it in the Sun, it's so." So with childlike faith, Virginia's curiosity, and hence that of many more children, was satisfied by the reply of Newspaperman, Francis P. Church when he answered, "Yes, Virginia, there is a Santa Claus."
Another timeless question arises that is pondered by many this season when they similarly ask, "Please tell me the truth, is there a Jesus?" To respond to this question would give me great joy. You see, the answer is all that I can offer to my own children this Christmas, yet one that I hope will become engrained in their hearts forever. . .

All About Lapis Lazuli
Lapis Lazuli has been a highly valued stone for many thousands of years. Lapis Lazuli is known for its blue colour. The first part of the name is the Latin Lapis, meaning stone. The word "lazuli" comes from the Persian/Arabic lazhward or blue (as in "azure"). Together the name means "blue stone" or stone of azure.
Lapis Lazuli is a polymineral rock composed mainly of the blue silicate mineral lazurite along with gold colored pyrite (fool's gold) and whitish calcite. Lapis Lazuli is formed through contact metamorphism of particular forms of limestone, mainly the blue lazurite. The beautiful blue of the lazurite occurs due a charge transfer between sulfer atoms contained in the rock. . .
Archeological Discoveries of Lapis Lazuli
A large mass of lapis lazuli was found in one of the Inca graves of Peru by Senor Emilio Montes, and was exhibited by him in the Centennial Exhibition of 1913. . .

Inspirational Message
This is a message that I wrote for a Christian wedding concerning the new covenant of Christ.
~ A New Covenant ~The history of humanity begins and ends with a wedding - beginning with the marriage of Adam and Eve and ending with the marriage of The Lamb, Jesus, to His Bride. This a consistent and beautiful portrait of our Creator's faithful relationship to his beloved.
This theme is sounded throughout the Scriptures. In Isaiah 54, God identifies Himself as the "husband" of His people and declares "their righteousness is from Me". In Isaiah 61:10, His bride declares "He has clothed me with the garments of salvation, He has covered me with the robe of righteousness, as a bridegroom decks himself with ornaments, and as a bride adorns herself with her jewels."
God, in all of His glory, desires a loving companion, a relationship with those he created. Yet, he desired a bride who would freely choose to love Him of her own will. . .

Children's Fiction
This is a chapter from a series of stories that I wrote for my children when they were young, almost 15 years ago now.
The Prayer WarriorsIntroduction:
The series is called "The Prayer Warriors". The characters are a group of creatures who came together during a strange storm, hid in a mountain cave and did not leave until they made a priceless discovery. They found the full armor of God, complete with instructions for use. Each of the animal characters donned a piece, and would soon attend many adventures together as transformed creatures, learning many lessons. Collectively they will help one another to realize the importance of taking on the full armor for their spiritual guidance and protection as they journey along.
This story happens along one of their journeys when they encounter a new, but not immediately so, friend.
~ The Prayer Warriors Meet Punky Polecat ~
The sky was changing. The soft pinks and yellows were now turning into bright blues and lavendars. The stars were beginning to twinkle which made the shadows in the forest seem to dance around at this time of the day. Soon the fullness of their light would be here. Their shine would be enough to keep the wildwood lit throughout the night. It was an enchanting sight. And if one looked carefully in the distance, you could see the silhouette of six galant creatures donned in glistening pieces of armor gazing up at the sky.
At last, the Prayer Warriors found their way back to the Phantasm Forest. They had made their way up the steep and rocky hill along the mountainside. They were astonished to see that getting out of the Mountain of Fear only had brought them upwards, to a higher and more level place. After all, their difficult journey out of the mountain sometimes felt as though they were going down, down, down.
The sky all around them was sparkling now against a canvas that would soon turn shades of deep sapphire and amethyst. Billions of tiny lights illuminated the sky, making it clear and bright. Soon the little stars would be a mass of everchanging color; a symphony of gems singing in the heavens. . .

Poetry
Here is a little poetry I wrote for others through the years, including one from a card I illustrated and gave to my husband 23 years ago. He has treasured it ever since.
~ Lamb of God, Shepherd Sweet ~I may only be a little lamb,
but my mind is filled with wonder -
I've heard about the Lamb of God
and this is what I ponder.
I've been looking for him everywhere
it's him I want to see.
A precious lamb so innocent,
yet sent to Calvary.
In my search I wandered off
I got caught and soon was bound.
My Shepherd soon was calling me
from the dark place that I found.
I lost track of who I was looking for
and was thinking only of me.
If I had simply followed him
then I could have stayed free.
For in my haste my eyes grew dim;
I forgot the sacrifice.
My anxious heart had blinded me,
I paid a heavy price.
His gentle spirit guided me
with his staff and with his rod.
He brought me out from a thorny bush;
led by the hand of God.
I saw the wounds on his calloused hands
caused when he rescued me;
then I knew the Lamb of God
was indeed the one who saved me.
As he held me close within his arms,
at his heart I cried a tear.
My blackened wool turned white as snow,
I was forgiven by this one so dear.
A lamb so frail and humble,
yet his splendor shone with might.
At last this little lamb believes
I am precious in His sight.
O Lamb of God, Shepherd Sweet
forever I will lay ~
my anxious thoughts and sinful ways,
at the cross they now will stay.

~ Magnificent Wings ~
No place on this earth any greater to see,
is there this one creature in all of his beauty.
A tear comes to eye upon a glimpse of the sight ~
a magnificent eagle during his flight.
Though chilling winds bite while the eagle does soar,
his wings spread so great, a sight to adore.
Challenged by nothing greater than seasons,
soars he so graceful and proud through the heavens.
His Creator has made him a symbol of might,
still his soul's shadow humbly commands what is right.
The power he bestows over some may he rein;
as his strength comes forth, his gentle faith does remain.
His nature of strong will is helping him to achieve,
goals high he does set and in all he believes.
As great horizons he does travel on roads in the air
he seeks not his destination, but the course he does fare.
Thus, he shall discover bright skies and new seas,
wonderous gifts in the oceans, a peaceful song in the breeze. . .

Blogging
An example of one of my blog entries.
~ A Cotswold Cottage ~ Traversing around the world wide web I recently landed in the Cotswolds of England, famous for thatched roofed cottages and the Cotswold Lion, a very wooly sheep.
An interesting book came to my attention, written by one J. Arthur Gibbs in 1888, called A Cotswold Village or Country Life and Persuits in Gloucestershire. It is about life in the Cotswolds in the late 19th century.
Mr. Gibbs was a devout believer and this book was a tribute to the Creator that he served. An excerpt from his diary shortly before his passing (prior to the third publication of the book) read:
"Do not neglect the creeping hours of time: 'the night cometh when no man can work.' All time is wasted unless spent in work for God. The best secular way of spending the precious thing that men call time is by making always for some grand end-a great book, to show forth the wonders of creation and the infinite goodness of the Creator. You must influence for good if you write, and write nothing that you will regret some day or think trivial."
I think these are words worthy of rememberence and wisdom worth heeding for this aspiring authoress.
Read A Cotswold Village online.
Here's a page with some great photos of the Cotswolds today - doesn't seem to change much which is nice enough for me!
I must soon blog about the Cotswold Sheep, they are very bloggable indeed!!
