Carlton Football Club History
The club was formed in July 1864 and became an instant success by becoming one of the strongest Australian football teams. The reason for its appeal to supporters is because it is based in Melbourne and was an instant fierce rival to the very first Aussie rule football club, Melbourne.
In 1877 Carlton Football Club became one of the joint founders of the Victorian Football League, what is now the Australian Football League after its rebranding in the 1990's.
In its history Carlton Football Club has become one of the most successful Aussie rules teams as it has achieved 16 Premierships dating between the first in 1906 and the last in 1995.

Carlton Football Club Success
In recent times Carlton have not achieved as well as they would expect, in fact since the year 2002 the highest position reached is 7th with many years falling under the 10th position mark. This change in fortunes is one that the team and its supporters are wishing to eradicate and some improvement has been seen in the last two seasons.
