Carnival of Squid: May 2009
Ranked #847 in Squidoo Community, #91,424 overall
May 2009 Topics
The Carnival of Squid highlights the best lenses on a specific topic for the day. I'm looking for your best submissions and for you to vote for your favorites. The top vote getters will be featured on the Carnival blog each week, along with a Barker's Best. Good luck!!
How it works:
- Have a lens for a day's topic? Add it to the list.
- Like the topic but don't have a lens? Make one (a great one!) and add it.
- Check out the lenses for the day's topic and vote for the ones you like (or don't).
- Visit the Carnival of Squid every week to see which lenses made the cut.
Week 1
May 4: International Respect For Chickens Day
Bawk!! Love chickens? Well it's your day to celebrate them. Let's see your best lenses on chickens. There's room for lenses on specific breeds, tips for raising them, books on chickens, you name it. I'd love to see a lens about the San Diego Chicken or maybe one about chickens in literature.
(Just no eating chickens lenses OK? It's respect for chickens day, not best chicken recipe day.)

May 20: Trans-Atlantic Flight
This is apparently a popular day for flying to Europe. Charles Lindbergh took off for Paris from Long Island in 1927 for the first non-stop solo flight across the Atlantic. In 1932, Amelia Earhart left from Newfoundland for Ireland to become the first woman to make the journey solo. Pan American Airways chose to not take the solo route in 1939 as it began regular trans-Atlantic air service.
Give me something related to historic achievements in flight. It could be the first flight around the globe, first non-stop over the Pacific, first woman to earn a pilot's license.

- Thanks for the suggestions! We're doing this every month, so if there's ever an Ethnic Food Day, that will likely be a topic in the Carnival. The topics are tied to events, celebrations and history for the particular date.
