Squidoo Basics
Ebook of the Moment
After reading the several reasons given for creating a lens, I feel that my reason is best described as a desire to increase my web presence and to gain credibility as a teacher of internet marketing for beginners.
Again, I would like to urge all the experts out there to help me by making suggestions of things to try and pointing out things I could do better.
In a few days I will begin a new lens discussing a subject that I have been studying recently -- product creation. This is aimed at my attempt to encourage others to expand their knowledge.
Here's to my success and any others that decide to come along with me.
The connections you make to other sites, to your other lenses, to other people's lenses . . . these are the core of what you're setting out to build."

The Importance of Groups
It is not like the baseball field, "If you build it they will come."
Groups provide a way to speed up this process. From your Dashboard, click on Groups and then Join a Group. You will see a list of the categories depending on the subject matter of the lenses they are featuring.
Click on the appropriate category to see the list of groups. The number at the end of the category is the number of groups in that area. When you pick a group to join, be sure to read the rules then complete the application.
RULE #1 -- Don't take rejections personally. The founder of the group decides who will be in the group and who won't. If rejected, just try another.
Why bother? Remember you want to have people visit your lens. Group leaders very often will ping different group members.
I read today that you should try for 100 memberships. I will shoot for 10 first. I like to set goals I can reach.

Keyword Poll
" . . . you have to make sure you have great keywords to use on your lens page, keywords that will draw people to your site and link them to your other websites and affiliate sites."
This is a quote from "Squidoo Basics" © Newbie-FAQs.com, the book I referenced earlier.
Keywords, from a beginner's point of view, can be a problem. Although I am confident with my understanding of the skills needed in finding keywords for a topic, I seem to still be lacking the knowledge of how deep to go.
Using this lens for an example, I can come up with the logical keywords centered around Squidoo, how to Squidoo, and so forth.
Where do I go from there becomes the next logical question.
