Carrot Juice Is Exceptionally Beneficial To Our Good Health
If you are anything like me and love carrots or like my children and hate them doesn't really matter when it comes to these great tasting fruit juices which have a secret ingredient...yep you've got it...CARROTS!
Carrots really can help you to see in the dark...and in the light.
Carrots have a very huigh vitamin A content which is important if you wish to maintain good vision and a vitamin A deficiency can lead to a condition called night-blindness. Although moderation of your vitamin A intake is also important so these juices arn't recommended to be drunk more than a glass a day.
I shall tell you more about the health properties of including carrots as part of your diet a little further on in this lens, but for now let me get on with showing you how to make some really appetising juices using carrots and fruits.
A juicer is highly recommended to make these delicious juices and if you don't have one then you can buy one a little further down in this lens...I have scoured the internet to find the best deals available that will not break the bank...yet are strong enough that the hard carrots will not break the juicer either :)
Carrot & Fruit Juices
There are so many carrot/fruit concoctions which you can try.
There are so many wonderfully sweet fruits which can be blended along with carrots to create fabulous healthy drinks. Why not try a few of your own personal favourite fruits with the carrots!
If the additional fruit is not a strong flavour such as water-melon, simply reduce the amount of carrots that you use and bulk-up on the water-melon...it really is as easy as that.
Banana & Carrot Juice
Recipe
Ingredients;8 Carrots {quite large}
4 Bananas {large & not overly ripe, the fresher the better}
1 Apple {skin & core removed}
1 smaller banana to garnish.
Method;
After ensuring that your juicer is thoroughly clean and your carrots have been washed under cold running water, plug in the juicer and put a clean high-ball glass under the spout to catch the juice. Next, feed the carrots into it. Once the carrots are in peel your bananas one at a time and feed them into the juicer and lastly feed in the peeled and de-cored apple {no need to wash the juicer in-between carrots, bananas and apple}. Once the 8 carrots and 4 bananas have been juiced and now in the high-ball glass, stir it up a good 6-8 times to ensure both the 2 ingredients are really blended together well
Peel the small banana and cut into half inch or so slices then push a straw through the center of each slice untill all the slices are on the straw then place the straw in the glass of juice. Add some crushed ice or a few ice-cubes and serve.
Strawberry & Carrot Juice
Recipe
6 Large carrots
3 Cups of ripe strawberries
1 Apple {peeled & cored}
3 Strawberries to garnish
Method;
Follow the exact method as I gave you for making the banana and carrot juice above but instead of putting slices of banana onto your straw, put the straw through the center of the 3 strawberries which you saved to garnish. Add crushed ice or a couple of ice-cubes to serve.

Carrot & Apple Detoxifying Tonic
For a quick juice which will not only detoxify your liver but also boosts your immune system, follow this simple recipe.
8 Large organic carrots
2 organic green apples {peel on}
Juice of 1 lemon
1 teaspoon of organic honey.
Follow the method I listed above for banana & carrot juice but leave the lemon juice and honey out of the juicer, adding them both to the glass after the carrots & apples have been de-juiced.
Carrot, Orange & Mango Juice
5 Large carrots
2 large peeled oranges
1 mango
Sprig of mint & a slice of lime to garnish.
Ice
Method;
Using the exact same method as I have already given you for the juices above, press each of the carrots, oranges and mango through the juicer remembering to put a high-ball glass by the spout to catch the juices. Give the finished concoction a few really brisk stirs and add crushed ice or a few ice-cubes. Garnish the rim of the glas with a sprig of mint (optional) and a slice of lime (optional), and serve with a jumbo straw.
Health Benefits of Drinking Carrot Juice
Carrot juice is widely thought to reduce the risks of developing many cancers including breast and skin cancer. It is thought that carrots contain cancer-fighting properties due to the high amount of Beta carotene in them. It is Beta carotene which changes to Vitamin A within the body system. Universal studies have shown that the antioxidant properties within vitamin A help eliminate cancer causing free-radicals within the body system.A deficiency in Vitamin A can cause skin damage, hair damage and nail damage, so drinking carrot juice is said to benefit all of these parts of the body as well as strengthening bones and teeth.
Carrot juice is also beneficial to our liver due to the cleansing effect of Vitamin A which reduces the production of fat and bile within the liver. To receive the full benefits of Vitamin A it is advised to drink carrot juice regularly, the liver can store Vitamin A and use it as and when it is needed.
It is also widely thought that carrot juice is especially beneficial for babies growing in the womb. Beta Carotene is healthy for both the mother and the unborn child. Studies have also shown that when babies drink both carrot juice and breast-milk they get the best amount of Vitamin A possible.
The darker orange the carrot, the more Beta Carotene it contains. Carrots also contain a high quantity of natural sugars, so people who have Diabetes should ALWAYS contact their Doctor before adding carrot juice to their regular diet to find out how much carrot juice they can drink safely. Drinking carrot juice is also very good for reproductive health due to the high Vitamin E content.

Carrots & Apples.
Whilst it is true that carrot and fruit juices taste much sweeter when an apple is added, it is a good idea to drink the juice as soon as it has been made as although the apple compliments the carrot nicely the acid contained within apples begins to bitter the carrots after a few hours of being together, which totally goes against why we use the apples in the 1st instance doesn't it.If you wish to make carrot and fruit juices to be kept refridgerated it is best to omit the apple from preperation and either use a teaspoon of honey or half a teaspoon of icing sugar in place of the apple.
Never keep apples and carrots stored together , this will prevent the acid in the apples from turning the carrots bitter.

- Carrot juice is great, and I love the carrot and strawberry one, very tasty. I've always been a carrot lover. I recently met a man online who cured himself of cancer, primarily by juicing, he even turned orange! Carrots are a great healer. :)

- Great lens!! I voted but didn't really find the choice I would have preferred ~~ that I knew of the benefits of carrots but that it helped to be reminded by this lens. Made me want to eat them more or get them in juice.
