Carrot Pictures -- Amazing and Nutritious -- Get All Your Vitamin A Right Here On This Page!
Carrot pictures a plenty you will find on this page and, despite the fact that this is meant to be a fun page, you will also find a few carrot facts thrown in amongst all of the great photographs!
Â
What exactly is a carrot? You probably already know, but just in case I will tell you that Microsoft Encarta says that it is a "thin orange root vegetable" or that it is "the thin, tapering orange-colored root of the carrot plant that is eaten raw or cooked as a vegetable." That picture beside this text is definitely not your ordinary carrot but it is a lovely example of a twisted carrot and an amazing photo!
The carrot belongs to the family Apiaceae and is classified as Daucus carota. The cultivated variety is classified as Daucus carota variety sativa. Pretty technical...but don't worry this is definitely not a technical page! I hope it is fun and I hope you'll let me know whether or not you enjoyed it when you get to the comments box at the end of the page. Picture by brettf.
Got Carrots? Yes, You Will Find Plenty Of Them On This Page
(Plus you'll find this great 'Got Carrots' t-shirt!)
You've never seen so many great carrot pictures! I just had to make this page in order to share them with you.
Remember to vote for your favorites!
I hope you enjoy the pictures on this page. They are all borrowed from Flickr and each photographer has been contacted for permission to use the photo.
This page is a photo fight, of sorts. Where you see a row of photos you can vote for your favorite one! You can even add one of your own, although the system will ask me for permission to load it onto this page.
There are definitely some great photographers placing their shots on Flickr; this page would not be possible without their beautiful images. I hope you enjoy them!
These carrots are meant to represent carrots in their natural state.

Do You Like Carrots?
But you might also like your carrots cooked...as a simple vegetable, in a casserole, in soup or even pickled!
(I am leaving dessert for another section.)
Do you have a favorite carrot recipe?
(No desserts here please.)

If consumers would be more accepting of nature's 'imperfections,' maybe there would have been no need to invent the baby carrot. Read Baby Carrots ~~ When Is A Carrot Not A Carrot for all the details.

- Love the page - we tried growing round carrots last year.....the 'normal' ones weren't good enough for dd's part of the vege patch! I wish we'd taken some photo's now because one of them just looked plain strange! Most of them were pulled up far too soon and were tiny (at least dd wanted to eat them though!)
