Quick facts about the Pixar race car

Cars Lightning McQueen
Lightning McQueen's original number was going to be 57 to represent director John Lasseter's birth year, but it was later changed to 95 to represent the year Pixar's first movie, Toy Story, was released.

McQueen was named in honor of Pixar animator Glenn McQueen, who was diagnosed with cancer in 2001 while working on Cars and died in 2002 before the film was finished.

Before Cars was released, Kelley Blue Book issued a press release declaring McQueen's value at $1.5 million.

The red-and-white paint job Ramon gives McQueen before the race car returns to California is based on the paint job on the Corvette used in the Route 66 TV series.
