The Adventures of Cecil the Sheep & His Friends.
Welcome!
Cecil the Sheep drives his car...
It's an original 1967 Volkswagen Beetle. He loves it!

One of Santa's helpers flushes out an imposter.
When elves attack...

The Nativity Incident
Cecil the Sheep goads his timid crew...

I love the way Squidoo lets you showcase your art.
Cecil the Sheep ends another distasteful evening as a chauffeur.

As an accountant...
Cecil the Sheep eyes a piece of new technology with scepticism.

And yes, I have spelt 'scepticism' correctly!
One of Cecil's friends is Fluffy, the Farting, Biting Cat.
In this vignette, we see Fluffy discover the Christmas lights.

Cecil the Sheep beats the Americans back to the moon...
And the Indians. And the Chinese. And Richard Branson!

And the Russians.
Cecil the Sheep is unconscious of his mortality.
I don't mean to get heavy here, but Cecil has forced me to consider some of LIFE's BIG QUESTIONS.

Is it better or worse to know that one is destined to die?
Celia the Sheep opens a cutting-edge boutique...
Not for the faint hearted!

Developing Cecil the Sheep - a friend's challenge...
One of my best mates commissioned me to draw a cartoon entitled 'Cecil the Sheep guffaws over his bumper whacky gag book'. I'd never drawn a guffaw before, so I had to experiment.

I never imagined one simple face could feature so many permutations.
And the result...
Here's how the guffaw cartoon turned out.

It's quite rough, since at that time I was doing sketches for the purpose of manually reproducing them onto T-shirts (which today are keenly sought by collectors).
Celia the Ballerina Sheep

Cecil and Celia the Sheep get married...
And celebrate their honeymoon in style!

Another of Cecil's friends is Michael the Rat.
Here he is, having a drink after a difficult day.

I feel like this quite often. Do you?
Your view is sought on an issue gripping the globe!
Cecil the Sheep cranks up his guitar...
It's a very rare and expensive Rickenbacker!

Cecil the Sheep has an accident...
I hope this is covered under his income protection insurance.

Cecil the Sheep visits the fish and chips shop...
And has a little joke with the proprietor.

Cecil introduced himself when I was doing my HR degree...
I was taking notes when this image manifested at the bottom of my page!

He's been with me ever since.
Cecil the Sheep has tried many occupations...
Fortunately, this was just a Halloween costume.

Actually, that's not strictly true...

As a podiatrist...
Cecil the Sheep once tackled a particularly tricky biomedical assessment.

As a carpenter...
Cecil was known to give work experience kids a bit more experience than they bargained for!

One of LIFE's big questions.
Mickey Mouse or Donald Duck: Why?
Fetching blurbs now... please stand byMickey rules 4 EVER!
Tipi says:
Goody two shoes! No I think you're wrong AJ....its M-i-c-k-e-y!!! I'm real sure of that.... 4 ever!!!!

Tipi says:
Mickey Mouse, because I love to sing his theme song. It has just stuck with me for _ years! haha!

rebecca says:
Because mickey has allways been the favorite to many and because donald loses his temper to much so mickey is the best with kids.Plus who can make a mouse look cuter than mickey himself?

GypsyOwl says:
Mickey rules 4 EVER! Mickey captured my heart when he traded his harmonica to buy a gold chain for Minnie's watch, and Minnie traded her locket [the watch] to buy a case for Mickey's harmonica. "Mickey's Once Upon a Christmas - The Gift of the Magi" [Based on a short story by William Sydney Porter, aka O. Henry. 1906]

Donald is the REAL DEAL!
Dion says:
That's a hard choice, both are so much fun--I'll go with the duck because of that voice!
Posted September 30, 2009
Shelly says:
Mickey is nice, but Donald just has an authentic charm about him that gives him the edge!
Posted June 08, 2009
CCGAL says:
Donald because it's a lot more fun to mimic his voice than Mickey's.

Celia the Sheep knocks out a few sausage rolls.

If you dig Cecil, click the stars at the top of this lens & press F5!
And now, a sneak peek at my mate's newest creation!
This is the world's first glimpse of an unpublished cartoon.

It will later appear at www.lifeonearthcartoons.com which is already well worth a visit.
And just in time for Christmas (and the Hubble Telescope): Santa Sheep!
HO! HO! OH! AAAAARRRRRGGGGHHHH!!!!!

Christmas can be a stressful time...
Here we see Cecil the Santa Sheep suffering a psychotic episode.

Hands up if you've ever felt this way at Christmas!
Cecil & Celia the Sheep flunk ballet school...
So you think you can dance... dance... dance!

Where's Kat Deely when you need her?!
Cecil is eager to hear from you...

Just had to fly over here to give a Squid Angel blessing to this very cool cartoon lens.
Got my wings today and then went to take a much needed nap! :)

Cecil, if you do go on a house call to Susie's--please, please, please just leave your executioner outfit at home! Don't want to give a little girl nightmares for life!
I'm saddened to see that the one star bandit had to try to steal the fun here--they are so wrong!
Tipi wrote...
Cecil, do you do house visits? My granddaughter picks some really crazy cartoon characters to visit us, and then I have to talk to them and visit, be a hostess, etc... You would be a hoot to entertain! ~ lol :)

Hi, Paul - fabulous work! MiMi's review on SquidLog.com caught my attention and I rushed over here to check you out. I need to come back later and browse through your other lenses. For now - here's 5*s and a hearty SquidAngel Blessing for ya. :-)

For some strange reason Cecil and Celia remind me a bit of George and Martha. Must be the ballet scene. Love the creativity and am happy to be able to shower a bit more potent then the well deserved 5*s... ^:)^
Say, could I interest you to contribute an episode to the SquidLog funnies?
CCGAL wrote...
Oh, I hate to admit how much I adore that Nativity Incident - I have scrolled back up to see it several times. LOL It just makes me laugh out loud! Bet you could sell that on tee-shirts / mousepads / mugs to cat lovers, cat haters, and people who like interesting cartoons. My second favorite is where the cat discovers the x-mas lights. I like the sheep, too, but the 2 cat ones tickled me pea-green and spotted (showing my age with THAT expression). GOOD JOB!!!

Would love to sit and watch you draw. Cartoonist are fast. I've done some and got pretty good at it. I'm a detailed artist, painstakingly so.- I enjoyed the style, color, contrasts and balance. Put together well! Keep it coming, and remind me to re-visit.

Dear Shelly, it is indeed a hoot to be surrounded by these characters. I'm glad you had fun & I greatly appreciate your visit. Best regards, P. :)

How much fun you must have! What a delight. I just could not bring myself to choose between Donald and Mickey, have always loved them both. I was quite relieved when the henchman outfit was just a Halloween costume, I hope. May Cecil and Cecilia live long in the land of happily ever after!

Dear Baz, so glad you're digging the scene. No publishing deal yet, but I'm hoping this Squidoo experience can help me secure one. Failing that, I may just do it myself; technology is making this easier and easier.
PaulHassing wrote...
Dear Stazjia, thank you for your reminder. I've just put two more cartoons up and will add more soon. See my reply to JaguarJulie for an explanation. Best regards, P. :)
PaulHassing wrote...
Good question, JaguarJulie! Cecil and Celia have often been asked this, but they refuse to be drawn on the matter. I lost my creative mojo for many years. Squidoo has recently helped reignite it. I'm hoping that fresh adventures will emerge in due course. Watch this space!
Stazjia wrote...
I agree with Jaguar Julie, where are recent Cecil and Celia's adventures? You haven't abandoned those poor sheep have you?
JaguarJulie wrote...
I see a lot of 1995; a couple 1996 and 1997. So what have the cartoon sheep been up to in all these years? I've not been counting as many as I once used to. Very creative lens I might add! Love the talent.

cute sheep!...looking forward to more!...thanks for commenting on my lensography by the way.
The best sheep animation I've ever seen.
Wish I'd done this one. Hope you dig it!
Is Melbourne the world's most liveable city?
I certainly think so. But see for yourself! Let me show you round...
No bombs. No terrorists. Great water. Heaps of beer. Perfect beaches. Clean air. Blue skies. Ethnic & religious tolerance. Diversity. Arts grants. What more could you want?! Come see for yourself.
