Ranked #5,634 in Home & Garden, #69,388 overall
Make Money Selling Household Items at Auction Like the TV Show CASH IN THE ATTIC
The show wraps up each episode with the family watching the auction anxiously while their items come up for bidding. Sometimes they meet their goal or even exceed it when some item proves more valuable than they expected. Once in awhile they come up short on their goal.
It's a win-win for each family. They clear out clutter, work together towards a goal, and bring home some cash. Wouldn't you love to be on that TV show, Cash in the Attic? Why wait, you can do the same project with your family and your unwanted items. I'll show you how to find your own cash in the attic without being on television.

Cash in the Attic: How to Make Money from Your Forgotten Treasures
If you are clearing out a loft, bottom drawer or garage and want to know how to pick out a saleable item from amongst the junk then this book is your practical guide. "Cash in the Attic" aims to de-mystify the antiques business by explaining how to spot a treasure and how to sell it. Paul Hayes, one of the programme's antiques experts, goes through different categories of collectibles, from paintings and porcelain, to clocks and books, and reveals his tips on how to date an item, how to value it, and how to tell a genuine from a fake. Not only does Hayes explain what to look for and how to assess the quality of your discoveries, he also offers advice on the selling process, be it through an auction house, the internet or at a car boot sale. This is a must-have checklist for anyone embarking on the antiques world for the first time. (description from Amazon)

Go Room-by-Room Finding Things to Sell
for the Cash in the Attic project
Look at things with a fresh eye. What items are unused? What decorative items no longer appeal? Look at things collected over the years and decide if they are still important to that collector or would they rather have the money for the project.

- How to Eliminate Clutter That Has Emotional Links | eHow.com
- It's difficult to let go of many items because they have emotional associations for us. Most of us treasure our family photos and memorabilia. That's wonderful, but many less important items.get kept when they no longer serve a useful purpose.

I need to sell all my antiques to fund my future day care business.
scarlettohairy says:
I have lots of little collectibles that I could part with. I find lots of my stuff at thrift stores and become less attached to that stuff all the time. I think finding it is the thrill for me!
case1worker says:
My husband has mountains of fishing gear, if I sold that he would be unhappy but I could have the en suite re modelled and have a bathroom that actually works
Frischy says:
I would love to replace my old refrigerator. A design flaw causes the drainage line to freeze up frequently and results in the thing constantly leaking. Water everywhere! Ugh! I am getting ready for a yard sale to get rid of clutter and start saving up for that new, fancy fridge that does not leak. Great, inspirational lens!
cuteordeath says:
I guess I'd have to pay off my student loans first. ^^; But my parents' garage is full of valuable old junk!
I need everything I have....

- I used to watch Cash in the Attic and it was fun to see what things sold for. I love going to auctions so it's a perfect show in that regard too.
