Last August, we discovered a skin and bones mama cat and eight tiny kittens under the eaves in the back of the house. Actually one of our two dogs discovered them, got too close and she came out fighting. I brought them in to the screened in patio area a little while later.
So we ended up keeping two of the cats, one being the mother. Guess what we named the mother. OK, I won't make you wait. Mama-Ki. No we didn't name her son that we kept Sonny-Ki. His name is Bogey. Not after Humphrey Bogart. In this case, it's a golf term. Mama-Ki is probably half feral - still kind of scared but she purrs whenever you get a chance to pat her. I let her in and out of the house a few times a day. Bogey is an inside cat for for the time being. We had them both "fixed", but somehow getting "fixed" for females includes a weight gain. Mama-Ki looks like a watermelon with tiny feet now. I don't think she minds.
Bogey has fallen in love with the SPCA mutt of ours who initially would have liked to have him for a snack. Cadey is the mutt's name. She's blind - but happy. Bogey likes to snuggle up to her and sometimes lies under her chin. I love to watch them although Cadey doesn't put up with that indignity for long.
My mother used to say that when I was a baby, just seeing the cat walk by would send me into gales of laughter. It takes a bit more than that now, but I think my happiness level has risen since those two cats adopted us.
Update: Bogey is an outside cat now and in the last couple of weeks seems to stay around the house very well. The cats seems to take a lot less energy than the dogs.

- I am a "cat person" so at first glance I knew I'd love this page. Terrific art. Love the colors! The Rainbow Bridge cat reminds me of my Dandy, who is still with us but getting pretty old now. He's the mascot of my Zazzle gallery, in fact. Great lens! Oh, and I used to know someone with a cat named KiKi, same reason as yours. :-)
