Polly and Cosmo take over the armchair!
#1 Snoozing in warm places is their absolute favourite activity
and nice warm beds are always welcome
My cats are now at an age where they sleep a lot more than they used to when they were young.
I'm forever trying to find them a new bed even though they keep reminding me they still like mine best!
They're keen on comfy surfaces and enclosure but what they like best is HEAT! Whereas I'm keen on safety and cleanliness. So this bed looks like it meets all our requirements
Only one question - where do I hang their stocking for all the festive titbits?

Introducing the two cosmopolitan cats in my life
Polly and Cosmo
Cosmo and Polly have enjoyed 11 Christmases with me so far and I hope they'll be enjoying many more Christmases to come.
Polly is an Abyssinian cat and Cosmo is a Somali (semi-longhair Abyssinian) cat and they are "cosmopolitan cats" (Get it? Their names were my mother's idea!).
He's the big furry one who has total occupation of my knee in the evenings and Polly is the small ladylike one with a very fussy appetite who sleeps next to me all day.
They both like treats - and wrapping paper!
#2 Then there's looking out of the window - and sleeping!
I've never bought them a cat sill - however I have moved bits of furniture and built shelves for them so they can lie next to the windows.
Maybe it's time to install for a nice comfortable cat sill?

Cosmo Catnapping #9 by Katherine Tyrrell
This is the ninth drawing in Cosmo's Catnapping series. Cosmo woke up, rolled on his back, looked at me with big eyes and waited for his tummy to be tickled! I drew it quickly and as a result it's very nearly one continous line in pen and black ink. I like it a lot!

#3 They care about what they eat!
After sleeping, the next most favourite activity is eating. I have absolutely no need for an alarm clock as Polly has had an inbuilt "it's time for more food" alarm built in and knows exactly when it's time for me to get in the kitchen!
We're trying to focus on being more ethical these days - mainly to avoid the rubbish which some manufacturers create and call cat food!
The other priority is looking after those kidneys as they become older cats
Are my cats faddy? Simple answer - yes! They're also pretty fussy about what eat out of.

#4 Indoor cats like eating grass!
Talking about food reminds me that not everything they eat needs to come out of a tin or a packet or to be cooked! (They will however be expecting their turkey rations on Christmas Day!)
My cats are indoor cats as we all live in London. However they do like a really good chomp on some grass so we like to grow indoor grass.

I used to decorate a Christmas tree each year until I got Cosmo.
Cosmo really likes Christmas trees - he's always up for a challenge and especially likes the one where you have to get all the baubles off the tree.
So I abandoned having a tree and decorated gold twigs in a corner of the room instead. It's supposed to be inaccessible - but Cosmo is still up for a challenge....

Cosmo likes sitting up high - on top of doors
#7 They may be older but they still like to climb!
Even though he is now 10, Cosmo can still run up vertical surfaces and is regularly found on the tops of doors. He likes to surprise me with a well aimed pat on the head as I walk past.
I've never bought them a climbing frame but have looked at them more than a few times. What i like about this one is that it has two perching points - one for each cat.
The only questions are
1) Is this big enough?
2) Who's going to be 'top cat'?

I have tried very type of scratching post and scratching tool over time. What I like about this one is that it comes with catnip, the scratch pad is replaceable and it has lots of fans!

Furry mice get buried in out of the way places in my home. I'm forever finding a new place they've found to put their mice. Which means no matter how many mice I buy them most of them always disappear!
I don't think you can ever have enough small furry mice!

#10 Last but not least - lots of strokes
which help to groom!
Cosmo - being a semi-longhair - likes to have regular grooming regime coupled with a destress massage - which means I'm called to attend him on his table next to the window about six times a day! It certainly saves on the fur ball treats he used to dish up if I ever forgot!
I like to vary what I use to groom him so he doesn't get bored plus I find different tools are good at grooming in different ways. I also like to use grooming tools which are good for either cat with their very different coats.
This is what we use they go to stay with my mother - and they both love it. So I think we now need one in London too.
