The Feline Fashionista's Guide to Interior Design

Yes, I am a Cat Fashionista. I am not offended when you call me thus, for I wear the name as a badge of pride.

I keep an eye on cultural trends, read fashion magazines and peruse the celebrity pages, but I am far from being one-dimensional. I have no fixation on fashion, I have a feel for style. I have an instinct for elegance.

Elegance is a refined quality of gracefulness and good taste. One of my skills is in interior design and I'm more than happy to share my advice with the rest of the world.

You only have to remember that elegance is innate. It has nothing to do with being rich. The only real elegance is in the mind; if you've got that, the rest comes naturally

Elegance is Everything

Elegance is Born, not Bought

Light and Space

Excellent use of Colour

We need space that liberates us from terra firma, allowing our spirits to soar and our imaginations to take flight. The best interiors are light-filled and the choice of colour is paramount in setting the mood.

Colour is a major element in scale. A small room can have a larger look by the use of closely related values, hues, and intensity.

A large room can be made to look smaller by marked contrasts of color and value, hue, and intensity.

Value is one of the most important elements. Whether light or dark, little value contrast makes for unity, and sharper contrast makes for stronger punctuation.

In my view, no space without natural light is worthy of feline occupation.

The Stylish Stainless Steel

A lovely sculpture to display your taste and style.

Choose the Furniture Wisely

To fit in with the grand design

The most important piece of furniture is the bed.

On average, cats spend 50% of the day napping and I'm an above average cat. But sleeping is about style too. Here's a bright addition to any decor that would go well in a house with a modern and light-hearted design.

Available from Simply Cat Supplies

A chic and comfy bed with an unusual drawstring which is adjustable to the size of the cat.

The wild patterns suit rooms with wicker and cane furniture.

The Buttercup Cat Bed : Available from Kitty the Cat.

More wild patterns to inspire exciting dreams of the Pursuit and Pounce variety, but more suited to a regal cat.

Elegance and Efficiency

Working together takes on new meaning

The simple design of the Kitt-In Box may distract you from its practical purpose. For people who work online, now cats have a place to rest that's out of the way, but it's still only an arm's length to a scratch on the belly.

The Kitt-In Box can attach to the side of a desk or be placed on top it.

Felt pads protect the desk top. Cats are drawn to the soft cushion bed and the high walls, which are perfect for nesting. The Kitt-In Box can support a 20 lbs cat

Available from The Refined Feline

Smart and Stylish Art Print

Blindness is a significant public health issue in Cambodia. Over 160,000 people are blind and an additional 20,000 become blind each year. The main cause of blindness is cataract, which can be treated by a simple 15 minute operation at an average cost of $25 (AUD$35). (That's the price of a crayfish tail).
