How I taught my human to feed me properly
Being an 'obligate carnivore' means that I'm designed to get my nutrition from animal-based proteins - that's meat. I don't get much from plant-based proteins like rice and bread but I like to have a little mixed in my meat. It adds variety.
But please, don't try to feed me, or any cat, on vegetables!
It took me a while to teach the woman how to cook for me but, once she got into the habit, neither of us have ever looked back. In the interests of healthy and tasty eating for all cats, I share my five favourite recipes with you.
Cats do not eat fruit
Chicken and Pasta Recipe
- Serves: 2 - 3 medium cats
- Prep Time: 10
- Total Time: 20
Ingredients
- 2 cups of macaroni
- 2 cups of cooked thigh fillet
Instructions
Bring a small pot of water to the boil. Simmer the thigh fillets for 5 minutes.Remove, cool and chop.
Cook the macaroni until tender. Cool.
Blend in the food processor, adding a few drops of vegetable oil to help the mix
Cats should not eat from refrigerators
Cat Hash Brown Recipe
- Serves: 2 - 3 medium cats
- Prep Time: 15
- Total Time: 15
Ingredients
- 1 cup cooked minced beef (ground)
- 1/2 cup cooked brown rice
- 3/4 cup cream-style cottage cheese
Instructions
Mix together well, and serve

Luscious Liver Recipe
- Serves: 1 medium meal
- Prep Time: 15
- Total Time: 15
Ingredients
- 100 grams - 1/4 lb lamb liver
- 1/2 cup water
- 1 teaspoon corn oil
Instructions
Heat oil in a pan and add liver, fry gently on both sides until cooked but not dry inside.
Add water to the pan and mix it up with all the brown bits.
Grind the liver in a blender, using the pan juices.
Make sure the meat has cooled before serving
Cats should have their own food bowls
Fish Balls Deluxe Recipe
- Serves: 1 -2 medium meals
- Prep Time: 5
- Total Time: 30
Ingredients
- Small can of tuna in olive oil - don't drain it.
- 2 tbl whole grain bread crumbs or oatmeal
- 2-3 tbl grated mild cheese
- 1 egg
- beaten
Instructions
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees
Mash up everything to an even paste
Shape into small balls and put them on a greased baking tray
Bake for 15-20 minutes, checking frequently: the fish balls should be golden brown and feel firm
Cool thoroughly before serving
A cat may dream
Sardines and Rice Recipe
- Serves: 2 - 3 medium meals
- Prep Time: 5
- Total Time: 5
Ingredients
- 2 cups of sardines in oil
- 2/3 cup cooked white rice
- 1/4 cup chopped parsley
Instructions
Combine all ingredients.
Stir with a wooden spoon to break up sardines into bite-sized pieces
Store tightly covered in the refrigerator. Be sure to let the food reach room temperature before serving

- This is fantastic. Thank you Vladimir. I will most certainly try some for Chester and Cookies, although Cookies is on a diet, the poor girl has a weight problem.
