How to Make a Cat Friendly Christmas Tree
Ranked #16,014 in Home & Garden, #226,231 overall
Let your cat play without the stress!
You know how it is. The cat sees all the shiny, dangling things on the tree and that's the end of your Christmas ornaments. They're no longer on the tree - their on the floor.
Some of them may even be broken. You see, the tree itself makes for a very intriguing toy - especially for a climber. Our cat climbs, bats at the ornaments, and chases them around the room. We learned early on that we needed to make the tree cat friendly or else having a tree would be too stressful. :)

Cat Friendly Christmas Ornaments - Straw Ornaments
German Straw Ornaments
Our tree has mostly straw ornaments. I got these ornaments from a Christmas market in Germany. With my cat, it was instant love. He ignored all his toys and spent the month of December knocking the ornaments off the tree and chasing them around, batting them with his paw like a hockey puck.
What Makes an Ornament Cat Friendly?
My cat loves the Christmas tree because he looks at it as a one big toy. So, I thought I would give some tips on how to not only make the tree fun for the cat, but keep it in one piece.
- All ornaments made of straw are cat-friendly. It's an extra bonus of they also have glitter.
- Buy cat toys and hang them from the tree!
- Make your own catnip ornaments by putting catnip into any fabric ornament.

- I have seven indoor, rescue bunnies and I totally agree with your comment "If you can't beat them, join them". Life is so much easier this way. Great advice, works for bunnies too.
