CatGenie: A Self-Washing, Self-Flushing Cat Litter Box
Ranked #15,817 in Entertainment, #192,378 overall
What is this "Cat Genie" thing?
We love our cats. We have to love them if we're going to scoop up their stinky business from the litter box! If that isn't an act of love, I don't know what is.
Wouldn't it be nice if you didn't have to clean the litter box, ever?
Yeah, short of toilet-training your cat, that sounds impossible. But as it happens, there is a self-flushing AND self-washing cat litter box: It's called the CatGenie.
Sounds great! But does it work?
Weeee-eeeeell, you might want to hold off and read the reviews of this thing first... it's a cool idea, but the CatGenie litter box has its problem.

CatGenie Litter Box: What It Is, How It Works
What Makes Cat Genie Go Round?
The device needs to be hooked up to a water and power source, then it should be good to go. You just press the start button, and CatGenie
When your cat pees in the CatGenie, it drains down to whatever pipe the machine is connected to. When your cat takes a dump, the machine scoops it up and dumps it. Then the granules are swirled around and cleaned.
To keep the granules clean, you need to refill the machine with something called "SaniSolution."

CatGenie Safety Concerns
Fortunately, we don't have to worry: The makers anticipated that something like this would happen, so they made the granules from harmless materials. They're designed to pass harmlessly through your cat's digestive system if they're swallowed.
The cleaning solution is also safe. It's the same stuff veterinarians use to clean their exam tables.
What if the CatGenie
Problems with the CatGenie
Cat won't use it.
Some cats simply refuse to use it. Other cats have no problem with it, but it's impossible to predict whether or not your cat will use it. Many cats who are leery of this thing eventually learn to adapt. If you decide to get a CatGenie, don't throw the old litter box out right away, or your cat may start peeing on your laundry.
Granule messes.
Yeah, sometimes those little washable pellets get tracked all over the house.
Sometimes it malfunctions.
The CatGenie doesn't always work perfectly, and that was especially the case with the earlier models. A warped bowl might cause it to work improperly... and sometimes it fails to properly liquefy the feces, causing a blockage and puddling problem. (Some people resolved this by changing their cat's diet.)
The good news...
Fortunately, CatGenie apparently has fantastic customer service. Buyers were usually able to get their units replaced if there were any problems.
There is also a 90 day money-back guarantee if you're not happy with your unit.

- So far, the genie has performed great! Now if I could only get my older, finicky cat to use it. She's using the floor NEXT to the genie.. But I have to say, aside from the floor problems, it is amazing to not have to scoop, wash, or haul litter. No soiled litter smells. (although the sanisolution doesn't smell wonderful.. at least it's "clean") I would recommend this to anyone with younger, accepting cats. It will change your world.

- I baught a catgenie and a week later water would drip into the bowl and cause it to fill.. I contacted Catgenie and was tolled I was out of luck and was on my own. They tolled me I could upgrade for $300 dollars more to a new model. I had baught it on Ebay and it was still in the factory plastic wrap. I tool it apart and found that the water valve (from a maytag washing machine) had a bad oring in it and that is why it leaked water. Good product Bad customer service.

- Why would you call the CatGenie Reps if you bought it off of Ebay. I don't think it's fair for you to say their customer service is bad when you never originally bought it from CaGenie to begin with. The warranty will only apply if you bought it from the original company. I think that's fair.

- The cat genie is way better than any of the litermaid type solutions. My only complaint is those darn pellets that are all over my house!

- I have died and gone to heaven! I have spent a small fortune trying every type of automated litter box out there until I found this online. It's taking my boys a little longer than I though it would to adjust to the CatGenie, but they're getting used to it. I know they prefer the granules in the CatGenie to any of the litters I've used. As for me, I think it's the bomb!!!! I'll never go back to lugging litter into my apartment, and changing litter cartridges or waste receptacles again. And, considering how much I was spending on litter and cartridges every month, this litter box will save me money. I love it! Love it! Love it! I recommend this product to anyone who'll listen. It's extremely well-designed and well made, and I'll never use anything else!

I love cats. They were always in my life while I was growing up. They're cute, they're furry, they're independent, and they are anything but servile!
