Helping You Find Great Cat Figurines
They can be found at stores and yard sales, but the internet is best for variety and finding the brands preferred. Here I will share some brand names and ways to search the internet for cool cat figures.
This will cover mostly the porcelain and bone china figures.
I personally have about 300 cat figures, most are around 3 inches tall since I don't have much room for big ones. I have them in my Will to go to a local cat shelter if anything was to happen to me. They can sell them at the yearly auction. When I find bigger ones at yard sales, I give them to the shelter to sell when they want.

Places on the Internet to Look
Also just Google the brand of cat you are looking for. Some companies may still be in business or someone may have it listed on a blog. Google also picks up what is being sold on Craig's list.
Here's an example from Bonanzle, click on photo to go there.
Searching the internet with key words
Not as simple as you may think
People will list them by description, color, material and/or brand name if there is one.
Many figuring companies didn't put brand names on their work or some that did, used stickers that can fall off. Often you can find ones with what country they are from.
Japan is common on older cat figures.
Here's some search word ideas

Some of the cool cat figures from the 50's have whiskers. There are some with gem eyes and cat families where the mother cat is chained up with her kittens.

Here's a pair of music boxes. The base winds, then the porcelain cats turn as the music plays. They are only 3 inches tall. The stickers have fallen off, so I don't know who made them.

These 2 big cat figures I got when I was little at a place called an 88 cent store, it was like a dimestore or like today's dollar store with a pharmacy. Lots of the cat figures out there are from places like that and have no brand name on them, but like these 2 they are quite nice.

One of my favorites, he is about 10 inches long, the biggest one I keep. I found him at a swap meet for $5.

Brands of Cat Figurines
Here's a site to help you find some brand names to search for or maybe even put a name to cat figures you already have. Some companies just don't put names on their stuff. Click on Figurines to go there.
Some makers of figurines are quite expensive and some are affordable. It seem strange that many of the expensive ones are not always realistic, like the blue Copenhagen cats, but even still they have a fine quality look to them.
Amazingly some of the nice realistic ones are more affordable such as Josef Originals and Lefton. I believe it is because of how many were made. Some of the cheap ones were sold in dime stores or 88 cent stores many years ago.
In recent years cat figures are being made of resin or sandicast. I have a few I like, but to me they seem like cheap quality compared to the older porcelain and bone china made ones. But if you are looking for spacific breeds, you will find more of them made of resin.
Besure to look up spacific breeds also. This here is a Turkish Van Cat

Below is some brands listed to help your search.
Royal Copenhagen Cats on eBay
One of the top expensive figurine makers. Royal Copenhagen is know for their blue and white decorative plates, but they also made figure to go with the plates. To go with the plat pictured here they made the mom cat looking down and a separate kitten on its back. They come in big or small, where the mom is either 9 inches tall or 4 inches tall. Price of the tall mom goes between $289 and $180.
Another one of their plates shows a cat looking out a window, they made a figure for that one also.

Goebel, Lladro and Royal Doulton Cats
After you have seen a bunch you get to know then on site.
Goebel
Goebel also makes those Hummel things. The soft feel of porcelain is the same in their cats, but they add a little blue to the color of the cat.
Royal Doulton

This one maybe more expensive because of name, the detail is not so good, but the quality is nice. Always look for the name on the bottom as there have many copies made.

LladrĂ³ Cat And Mouse Figurine

Lladro makes lots of figures, all with mostly white, blue and grey tones. Mostly name may make them expensive. Most of their animals are quite nice, but I have not yet put a Lladro cat in my collection.

Lenox and Beswick
Besqwick
This company is well known for their big horses and cattle. The detail and quality is very pleasant. Look up big cats in Beswick if you want to add some of them to your collection. The lion is very nice, but watch out for smaller copies.

WindStone Cats on eBay
Here's one to never pass up at a sale, because you would be lucky to win the bid on eBay. Windstone made a series of mythical like animals in the late 70's and early 80's. I kick my self for not getting some when I was little. The Windstone cats have wings and beautiful gem covered collars. They are big, but look so nice. They are still making Windstone animals, so watch for the older cats and the new test color cats from the Widstone company too.
Hagen Cats on eBay
Fairly common and low cost, except some of the big ones can still be expensive though, and you should always grab them if you see them at a yard sale. These are the ones you see in shops lightly glued onto a piece of card. They are very nice and come in a variety of types and activity.
More Cat Figurine Brands to Search

Danbury Mint cats of Character on eBay
Danbury made a series of 3 - 4 inch cats doing stuff. The quality and odd poses are so nice for the collection. They are usually a good price, but always watch for more. I don't know how many were made.
Josef Original Cats on eBay
I don't know why Josef Originals can be so cheap sometimes, because they are some of the nicest cat figures. This is one of those brands where they use stickers to put the name on, that falls off. After you have seen a bunch, you know the look when you see them

- Meow! Another good place is shopgoodwill.com. I bought a Goebel (I think- has tag "Mitzi" and is marked 'germeny'). I also bought Nippon Cat Figures dating 1921-1944 from Japan.

- What a great resource! I collect cat figurines and love the Hagen Renakers, Wade, etc. I have a grinning silver tabby, though, whose maker has eluded me. It's a miniature, and likely bone china, but the key thing is that its expression is so finely done and full of life with that extra spark, I know it is a very special piece. I am going to use your list to continue researching it, so thank you!

- Wow, what a comprehensive look at cat figurines here. You showcase some gorgeous ones! I have a few, but if I had room I'd have lots, lots more. As much as I love my dog, I'm really a cat person - and my two know it! Great job on this lens!
