My Love of Cats

For as long as I can remember I have loved animals, and most especially cats. Currently my husband and I have four wonderful, precious kitties. Over the years we've had as many as five.

Pictured, left to right, top to bottom, is our current kitty crew: Higgins, Handsome Cory, Sophie Creamsicle and our newest family member, Jaidyn Gingerbread.

We adopted Cory, Higgins and Sophie as adults, and I can't imagine life without them now! Jaidyn was born in May 2007, and we adopted in October 2007, from a local rescue group.

I am the editor of Cats at BellaOnline.com and I'll share with you some of the articles I've written on cat adoption. (see below)

Through a Rescue Group or Shelter

One of the best places to look for a new cat or kitten is through a cat rescue group or shelter. Below are some links to help you find rescue groups or shelters in your area, as well as view actual cats available for adoption!

Petfinder.com
Petfinder.com lists many cats (and other pets) available for adoption. Search for cats and kittens in your area that are in need of a loving home. I found three of our four current kitties on Petfinder.com.

Whiskers and Paws Inc. is a cat and kitten rescue organization located in Oviedo, Florida (a suburb of Orlando). We adopted both Higgins and Sophie Creamsicle from Whiskers and Paws.
Candy's Cats
Candy's Cats Inc. is a rescue organization located in Orlando, Florida. We adopted Jaidyn Gingerbread from Candy's Cats.

In loving memory of Serena

I created these products, and many more, from a picture of our beloved Serena. She was a brown tabby who died from cancer in June 2007, at age 12.

After losing her I ordered the women's pink t-shirt, tote bag and throw pillow. All the products are very well made! And the t-shirt is higher quality than I was expecting.

If you voted "other" in the above poll, please tell us where you adopted your cat. I would have to mark other for one of our kitties - Handsome Cory. We adopted him from our animal hospital. One of the staff members found him, and he spent a few months living at the animal hospital and acting as a blood donor cat.

    My cat was a homeless kitty wandering on the street when I first discovered him.
    I am so glad to have his company.

    I voted other because our cat is feral and she came to us as starving kitten...see her lens "my feral cat named Kitty"
    I'm so glad you wrote about this. We as responsible human beings, must be more diligent about indiscriminate breeding of cats or any animal, we can have control of this, pets rely on us. lensrolled to my Kitty and donating art lenses.
