- Hello Ryan. My name is Ryan also. Curious to learn more of your background and where you are headed. How long have you been in this particular line of work? You do a lot of things similar to what we do and we could use good minds (and workers) like yourself. I put our Squidoo work on hold about 8 months ago to focus on other areas of our product but am interested in bringing that work back in. Squidoo was highly effective for us. -RG

Do you see marketing as an activity that can positively impact your business?
Fetching blurbs now... please stand byYes! The more I market to prospects, listen to what they have to say, and iterate my business based on that feedback, the more growth I see.
lilflyers3 says:
Let me be the first to comment, since I created the question :)
Marketing is absolutely essential to the success of every business. Some may not realize it, but everything your business does is marketing. From the sales clerk who's always perky and polite, to the big circular ads that you purchase. Anything that your company does, which your prospects and customers see/hear, is marketing.
With the above being said, there is the right way to market to customers and there is a wrong way to market to them. The wrong way is to interrupt them with irritating content that they did not sign up for. This is considered spam or even most traditional advertising.
The right way to market to prospects & customers, the Catalyst Marketers way, is to respect them. To ask them to opt-in to your program and then to send them only the things they've requested. Listen to them. Iterate your products/services based on their feedback. This shows customers that you respect them and want to do what's best for them.
The right way to market to prospects and customers is what has them telling their friends about your brand. So if you'd like some help in figuring out just how you should be talking to your prospects & customers, please don't hesitate to reach out to Catalyst Marketers.

Survival is Not Enough $6.97
In Survival Is Not Enough, former Yahoo executive and author of Permission Marketing Seth Godin turns his attention to the predominant issue facing all business today: change. Godin takes the perspective of an evolutionary biologist, borrowing ideas from the likes of Richard Dawkins, Jared Diamond, and Matt Ridley to formulate his own prescription for business survival, a concept he calls "zooming," which he defines as "stretching your limits without threatening your foundation." The result is a wide-ranging and eclectic menu of useful ideas that just about anyone looking to enhance their career, job satisfaction, and their company's prospects would do well to consider. --Harry C. Edwards --This text refers to an out of print or unavailable edition of this title.

Unleashing the Ideavirus
Treat a product or service like a human or computer virus, contends online promotion specialist Seth Godin, and it just might become one. In Unleashing the Ideavirus, Godin describes ways to set any viable commercial concept loose among those who are most likely to catch it--and then stand aside as these recipients become infected and pass it on to others who might do the same. "The future belongs to marketers who establish a foundation and process where interested people can market to each other," he writes. "Ignite consumer networks and then get out of the way and let them talk."

Social Media Marketing
Quotes by industry leaders...
- "To maximize Twitter for business, a company should consider hiring a virtual assistant who will be able to focus on the social media and really spend time on growing your brand's online presence as well as increase all your online activities. Increasing your company's online activities will help raise your company's online profile." - Lawrence Perry
Let Catalyst Marketers be your Virtual Assistant. Give us a call to find out how we can help drive success for your online marketing strategies. - "Regardless of which site is in the lead (MySpace or Facebook), 2009 is the year of building social marketing strategy," says Debra Aho Williamson, eMarketer senior analyst and author of the new report, Social Network Ad Spending: A Brighter Outlook Next Year. "2010 and beyond will see increased activity and deployments."

- "The economy may be stagnant, but we're reminding people we're still here," said Mitch Downey, manager for Planet Smoothie at the Coconut Point shopping center in Estero. He's using Twitter to post weekly specials and upcoming tastings in which the Smoothie team goes to a local gym to give out samples.
"Quite a few of the Apple (computer) store employees come in" after a message or "tweet" goes out on Twitter, Downey said. - Establishing an authentic presence in social media is where many marketers fall down, according to Shiv Singh, vice president and global social media lead at Razorfish. "Most brands aren't doing it successfully," he said in an interview last week.
- "Like a physician on call, to be appreciated by your constituents in social media is to be open for business practically 24/7." - Bob Cargill

- "If you ask me, the key to being successful with social media is patience, perseverance and pushing past the so-called "Dip," a difficult stretch of time (invariably the beginning) when the going can be tough and the rewards may appear few." - Bob Cargill of A New Marketing Commentator blog
- "Social media marketing is here to stay and can bring tremendous value to those who know how to leverage it. From gaining new clients, to gaining visibility, branding, and credibility, not to mention leads, social media marketing is one activity that everyone needs to "find" time for and "create" a budget for." - Nipa Shah

- Whether it's a blog post, a funny video on your site or your product itself, you need to come up with a plan for spreading that content.
