A debate covering Climate Changes and if they can be stopped.

Most people have an opinion about Climate Change and if the change is normal or the result of the burning of Fossil fuels and the destruction of forests. This is a chance to publish your views and maybe provoke somebody in government to reply or do something. If you do not post, then maybe you just don't care enough about the world you live in and what it will be like for future generations.

Can the world stop Climate Change from happening?

Service says:

It is the same old story, "whatever I do in life has no effect on the climate or the future." The problem is ,you want to have the good life until it is taken away from you, which may happen sooner than you think.

No problem, it has always changed

BFuniv.com says:

Climate Change is as old as the world. When I was a kid, the (well funded) worry was that we were entering another ice age. This panic will also pass, other panics will arise - or be made to seem to arise. Someday we will have a major disaster, it will probably be unforeseen, it will probably be caused by government laws and regulations.

maybe if we can't stop it, we can make a little difference or lessen its effect by acting and now.

Thank you, one of the best comments yet made on any of my Lenses. We must keep up the pressure on all forms of government. I have added a video, which is a big start in the right direction.

Wake up, everybody! Climate change is not just a theory. (Remember when plate techtonics was a theory and most folks laughed at it? It is real! For instance, it's already putting tremendous pressure on the flora and fauna in New England. Vulnerable creatures can only migrate just so high toward the mountain tops to stay in a hospitable habitat. When they reach the mountain tops, there is no where else to go, so "Goodbye!" Insect-borne diseases which could never survive New Engalnd winters are invading us now!

Humm, if I were living in a low-lying area along the coast or on an island, I'd be counting everyone one of those multi-mile-wide icebergs as they slide into the sea and measuring those retreating glaciers. If we're not concerned about the loss of polar bear habitat (and we ought to be), we should at least be concerned with our own species. Funny thing is, our welfare is intimately connected to theirs, but I suppose I am "preaching to the choir."

If we can afford a computer, maybe we give to this very resourceful organisation

Grameen Foundation uses microfinance and innovative technology to fight global poverty and bring opportunities to the world's poorest people. With tiny loans, financial services and technology, we help the poor, mostly women, start self-sustaining busines

We at Squidoo passionately believe in creating new ways to support good causes online. By making a donation to Grameen Foundation from this page, you are sending money directly to that organization, in whatever amount you want. We don't touch it. We don't even see it. The author of this page doesn't either. And if you made it this far, thanks for caring.

Climate Change

Climate change is a change in the statistical distribution of weather over periods of time that range from decades to millions of years. It can be a change in the average weather or a change in the distribution of weather events around an average (for example, greater or fewer extreme weather events). Climate change may be limited to a specific region, or may occur across the whole Earth.

In recent usage, especially in the context of environmental policy, climate change usually refers to changes in modern climate (see global warming). For information on temperature measurements over various periods, and the data sources available, see temperature record. For attribution of climate change over the past century, see attribution of recent climate change.
