Glass cat clocks

Hi and welcome to my lens, i have two loves in life one is cats the other is glass so i have now combined the two.I  have two cats of my own. But that´s just not enough so i now make my own out of fused glass and turn them into cat clocks:) P.S i almost forgot also love my girlfriend :):):) xxx

I have been making novelty glass cat clocks for the past 6 years. Each cat is made of at least 16 seperate pieces of glass. All are hand cut and ground into shape. The eyes and collar are made of dichroic glass or of 18k gold leaf that is fused into the glass. It´s then kiln fused and cooled slowly to anneal the glass for strenght and durability.

The clocks come with good quality stick on numbers in silver or gold. You can choose just let me know. But if you don´t like the numbers they will come off. The tail of the clock is the pendulum and due to the quartz movement they keep perfect time and they are very very quiet. There is also a three year warranty on the clock mechanism.

Clock stat`s approx. 13.5" x 5" or 340mm x130mm. Thats from tip of ear to tip of the good old tail:)

100 % Hand made

There is no mass production here or moulds of any sort. Each clock takes about 2 hours to cut and grind into shape and on top of that it is in the kiln for another 12 hours. After the cat clock has cooled down i then drill the hole in the centre of the body to accomodate the clock mechanism. At 90 dollars they are not the cheapest in town, but your getting a uneak one of a kind hand made clock.

My inspiration

Butter wouldn´t melt

Well, I would like to introduce you all to my two cats, Lulu and Onni. Onni is the ginger Tom. They give me my inspiration. Lulu is 4 and Onni is a 2 year old. They are both spoiled rotten and can do what thay want when they want. Lulu is 4 kilos and she is THE BOSS. Good old Onni weighs in at just over 8 kilos. They are both very naughty and Onni some times thinks that it`s time for him to be top dog, and just jumps on her pinning her down to the ground (all in fun). She goes crazy and when she escapes by God does he pay for it:)

Black cats

I just love black cats. I think they so sleek and elegant looking. I have had 5 or 6 black cats back when i lived in England but they all got run over:( But as i now live in Finland 95% of cat owners keep theirs cat in (house cat). I don´t agree with that as i beleave cats should be free to roam around and have fun (do cat stuff). But i now live in appartment so my 2 cats are now also house cats and don´t go out but at least we have a large glass enclosed balcony. They love sitting watching the birds, rabbits, etc. and they both seem happy:)

The gray twins

These two pussy cats are made of a light gray opaque glass (solid colour), They have dichroic glass eyes and collar.

Why multi-coloured cat clocks?

So why multi-coloured clocks? Well a few years back a customer asked if i would make a cat clock out of red, green and purple glass, which i happily did. Then their friends saw it and wanted one and thats how the multi-coloured clocks came into being.

Functional wall art

These cat clocks make an elegant addition to any home as well as the work place. As soon as you get one of my clocks, it will make it´s self right at home. They make a great kitchen clock, lounge clock, nursery clock, kids room clock. Not forgetting the work place, thay also make great gifts, say for housewarmings, weddings any occasion. Cat lovers just love them.

Commission work

Jaguar cat clock

This Jaguar cat clock was commissioned by Jaguar Julie. It is 100 % glass. The head and body are made of a marygold yellow. The cats markings are made of black powder glass mixed with oil. The collar is 18k gold leaf fused into the glass. The eyes are of a gold dichroic glass. This clock was fired twice once to make the clock, and a second time to fuse the cats markings into the glass Thanks Julie!

Just beeing nosy:)

I prefer the clocks without the numbers but hey that is just my opinion. What is yours?
