Spoil your kitty cat with love and save your furniture all in one breath!

Do you want to show your kitty that you love her by letting her get her scratch on? Head on over to Spoil my kitty where you will find many different varieties of scratching posts and cat furniture. There is definitely something there that will suit your needs, save your furniture, and help you spoil your kitty

Why should I spoil my kitty with a scratching post or cat furniture?

To help save your furniture!!

Every cat owner has been there before. You walk into your house, and your beloved Felix is tearing apart your favourite couch. You yell at him, he runs away, but does he stop scratching?!?!?! NO!!!

A cats need to scratch is instinctual. They use their claws for balance, climbing and defence. When they scratch they are actually shedding a thin, clear protective sheath that grows on their claws. They are also sharpening so they are prepared next time Fido comes around the corner.

Now although this may be frustrating to you and your beloved couch that now looks as though it has gone through the paper shredder, you can change your cats behaviour. (And you don't even have to yell!!) Yelling doesn't usually work well on cats anyways. They tend to be a little stubborn, and don't listen in the same way a dog does.

Reasons why you shouldn't declaw your kitty

You ever woke up in the morning and thought, gee, I think I want to go chop off the tips of my fingers?? I didn't think so, but for every pet owner who takes their cat in to have them declawed, this is the descision they have made for their cat.

You may think, it's ok that my cat has no claws, she doesn't go outside anyways. What you don't realize is that many cats present 'ghost pain' symptoms after this horrible surgery. It takes away their ability to defend themselves if they accidentally get out, and it lowers balancing and climbing abilities.

If you want to save your furniture, please, please do the right thing. Buy a scratching post at Spoil My Kitty . Do not have your cat declawed! It is cruel and unusual punishment for the animal you cherish and love.

Thank you and good luck with your furniture and your spoiled kitty!

Ok, so now that I have purchased a scratching post, what do I do?

Teaching a cat to scratch a scratching post is as easy as remembering to breath. All you have to do is purchase a scratching post like the amazing ones available at Spoil My Kitty and show it to your cat. Most cats will scratch the post immediately! But, if Felix looks at it and walks away, here are a few simple tricks:

*Show your cat the post, scratch at it while he watches. He may be afraid to scratch at it if he has been repeatedly getting in trouble for scratching.

*Rub cat nip on the post-I did this for one of my stubborn cats and she wouldn't leave the post for days. It became her favourite spot and she completely avoided my furniture from then on!

*Be sure to put the cat post in a place your kitty regularly goes. There is no use trying to spoil your kitty by hiding the post from him!

*A good scratching post should be tall enough that the cat can stretch as he scratches. The problem with department store scratching posts is that they are often too short and therefore wind up not spoiling your kitty as you had hoped. They also tend to be made of cheap materials and break down quickly, especially in a multiple-cat household. The posts and furniture at Spoil My Kittyall come with a warranty-they are GUARANTEED to satisfy you and your kitty or your money back!

I didn't believe that my cat would take to a scratching post. I had been there, tried that..So, to say the least I was pretty skeptical when I read this article. Department store brand posts just don't compare! My cat finally leaves my couch alone which gives me peace of mind. Thanks for the info

I ordered one of the scratching posts and can't wait to get it! A friend of mine picked one up and her cat loved it:) Thanks a lot!
