Pentecost- What Happened?
"When the time for Pentecost was fulfilled, they were all in one place together. And suddenly there came from the sky a noise like a strong driving wind, and it filled the entire house in which they were. Then there appeared to them tongues as of fire, which parted and came to rest on each one of them. And they were all filled with the holy Spirit and began to speak in different tongues, as the Spirit enabled them to proclaim." (Acts 2:1-4).

Written by the Apostles on Pentecost- The Birth of the Church?
390 C.E. - 400 C.E. Writers attributed it to the Apostles
Along with all manner of astonishing miracles, thousands were converted on that day.
But converted to what?
It was not the same Judaism that they had grown up with- something supernatural, earth-changing, had happened. The new developments had to be delineated and defined, and this Creed is what the new converts were professing as their own faith. Without it, it would be merely an offshoot of Judaism and the full impact of the incredible fulfillment of it would have been reduced to a 'sect' with another failed, earthly messiah.
The distinctions were critical to understand what God had done at the 'fullness of time' to restore humanity to his good graces, which had been lost to us at the fall of Adam and Eve.

Pentecostal Conversions- What and How?
Sacrament of Baptism
This was not the usual method for Jews, as they had annual atonement rituals for the forgiveness of sins that were done with their priests at the temple.
Despite the fact that this was unusual, Jesus went to St. John for his own Baptism. In what is known as a Theophany, the Trinity came in its fullness- The Holy Spirit came down 'like a dove' and rested on Jesus' head; God Father said: "This is my beloved Son with whom I am well pleased." Matt 3:1-17
This forms a basis for the Trinity: Father, Son, Holy Spirit, and has been the required formula for all valid baptisms since that day.
This is the FIRST sacrament for any Christian. A Sacrament is instituted by God and brings about what it promises. Baptism as a sacrament gives us the power to become children of God. That power is called grace- a free and unmerited action of the Spirit of God on a soul. The soul is PERMANENTLY MARKED with this sacrament, whether or not it fulfills its calling.

7 Still, I am telling you the truth: it is for your own good that I am going, because unless I go, the Paraclete will not come to you; but if I go, I will send him to you.8 And when he comes, he will show the world how wrong it was, about sin, and about who was in the right, and about judgement:
9 about sin: in that they refuse to believe in me;
10 about who was in the right: in that I am going to the Father and you will see me no more;
11 about judgement: in that the prince of this world is already condemned.
12 I still have many things to say to you but they would be too much for you to bear now.
13 However, when the Spirit of truth comes he will lead you to the complete truth, since he will not be speaking of his own accord, but will say only what he has been told; and he will reveal to you the things to come.
14 He will glorify me, since all he reveals to you will be taken from what is mine.
15 Everything the Father has is mine; that is why I said: all he reveals to you will be taken from what is mine.

so that the Father will give you anything you ask him in my name.

It is important and interesting to discover ancient Christian teachings. It is also surprising to find out that what is taught as Christianity today is very much the same as it was in the first century.
Issues like anti abortion are very clear in the early teaching of the church, and basic foundations such as the Divinity of Christ have been with us right from the start.

Souls in the Church Become Part of the Heavenly Jerusalem
Father of Orthodoxy
born 296 c.e. died May 2, 373
St. Athanasius was the Bishop of Alexandria, chosen for the priesthood as a child due to his extraordinary interest in the Church and evident vocation. He was critically important in ending the Arian Heresy (in our modern day reincarnated as Jehovah's Witnesses) and was present at the Nicene Council called by the Emperor Constantine to settle the issue.One intensely important issue was whether Jesus was actually the Son of God- Third Person of the Trinity, or whether, as the Arians stated, Jesus was merely man, though a very holy one.
The Arians' scriptural knowledge was very poor, but the political situation was such that the Arians wanted to claim additional power in the young church. It was such a difficult struggle in the Church that the Emperor himself had to order a council that would, once for all, decide the question.
St. Athanasius' creed therefore influence and gave direction to what became the Nicene Creed, a critical foundation upon which a Christian student would base their faith.

Whosoever will be saved, before all things it is necessary that he hold the Catholic Faith. Which Faith except everyone do keep whole and undefiled, without doubt he shall perish everlastingly. And the Catholic Faith is this, that we worship one God in Trinity and Trinity in Unity. Neither confounding the Persons, nor dividing the Substance. For there is one Person of the Father, another of the Son, and another of the Holy Ghost. But the Godhead of the Father, of the Son and of the Holy Ghost is all One, the Glory Equal, the Majesty Co-Eternal. Such as the Father is, such is the Son, and such is the Holy Ghost. The Father Uncreate, the Son Uncreate, and the Holy Ghost Uncreate. The Father Incomprehensible, the Son Incomprehensible, and the Holy Ghost Incomprehensible. The Father Eternal, the Son Eternal, and the Holy Ghost Etneral and yet they are not Three Eternals but One Eternal. As also there are not Three Uncreated, nor Three Incomprehensibles, but One Uncreated, and One Uncomprehensible. So likewise the Father is Almighty, the Son Almighty, and the Holy Ghost Almighty. And yet they are not Three Almighties but One Almighty.
So the Father is God, the Son is God, and the Holy Ghost is God. And yet they are not Three Gods, but One God. So likewise the Father is Lord, the Son Lord, and the Holy Ghost Lord. And yet not Three Lords but One Lord. For, like as we are compelled by the Christian verity to acknowledge every Person by Himself to be God and Lord, so are we forbidden by the Catholic Religion to say, there be Three Gods or Three Lords. The Father is made of none, neither created, nor begotten. The Son is of the Father alone; not made, nor created, but begotten. The Holy Ghost is of the Father, and of the Son neither made, nor created, nor begotten, but proceeding.
So there is One Father, not Three Fathers; one Son, not Three Sons; One Holy Ghost, not Three Holy Ghosts. And in this Trinity none is afore or after Other, None is greater or less than Another, but the whole Three Persons are Co-eternal together, and Co-equal. So that in all things, as is aforesaid, the Unity isTrinity, and the Trinity is Unity is to be worshipped. He therefore that will be saved, must thus think of the Trinity.
Furthermore, it is necessary to everlasting Salvation, that he also believe rightly the Incarnation of our Lord Jesus Christ. For the right Faith is, that we believe and confess, that our Lord Jesus Christ, the Son of God, is God and Man.
God, of the substance of the Father, begotten before the worlds; and Man, of the substance of His mother, born into the world. Perfect God and Perfect Man, of a reasonable Soul and human Flesh subsisting. Equal to the Father as touching His Godhead, and inferior to the Father as touching His Manhood. Who, although He be God and Man, yet He is not two, but One Christ. One, not by conversion of the Godhead into Flesh, but by taking of the Manhood into God. One altogether, not by confusion of substance, but by Unity of Person. For as the reasonable soul and flesh is one Man, so God and Man is one Christ. Who suffered for our salvation, descended into Hell, rose again the third day from the dead. He ascended into Heaven, He sitteth on the right hand of the Father, God Almighty, from whence he shall come to judge the quick and the dead. At whose coming all men shall rise again with their bodies, and shall give account for their own works. And they that have donegood shall go into life everlasting, and they that have done evil into everlasting fire. This is the Catholic Faith, which except a man believe faithfully and firmly, he cannot be saved.

The Nicene Creed is more extensive than the Apostle's Creed, more detailed. Due to errors among some individuals in the early Church, it was necessary to state more specifically some of the tenets passed down from the Apostles, and clarified by St. Athanasius, in order to protect and defend the faith as was given to them by Christ.
