The Easy Way to Keep Your Cat Free from Fleas - How to Get Rid Of Fleas
Fleas can be very harmful to your cat. Feeding on the cat's blood, fleas can make your pet anemic. Depending on the age of your cat, this could be a very serious problem. Flea infestations are one of the biggest killers of kittens.
Fleas will cause your cat's skin to become irritated and lead them to scratching so hard that they break the skin and are left with open wounds. Fleas can also pass tapeworms from one animal to another. It is important to take care of fleas early on. The longer you wait the harder it will be to get rid of them.
If you have realized that your cat has a flea problem, than it is to late just to treat the cat. You are going to have to take it one step further and treat the cat's surroundings. If you think that just making your cat flea free can happen without freeing your home also than you are wrongly mistaken.
You can remove fleas from your cat all day long, as long as there is a flea in your home it will eventually end up on your cat. Since ridding your house of fleas has to be done at the same time as you take your cat to your local vet to have them treated, (your vet will probably treat them with one of the flea line products out there) lets look at what you will need to do at home.

Cat Flea Treatments
The first thing that you need to do is free your home of eggs, larvae. And Pupae. Eggs are laid on your cat or other pets, these eggs will fall off of your cat and land in your carpet. Larvae occur after the eggs have hatched.Larvae are little worms that will hide in the dark crevices of your home; anywhere that they can avoid light is where they will end up. Pupae are the finally step of the fleas growing process, it is what happens when the larvae spins itself into a cocoon. The best thing that you can do to get rid of the fleas in these early stages is vacuum every inch of your carpet. Pay special attention to the corners and reach as far under your furniture as possible.
After you have vacuumed to the best of your ability, it is time to bring out the pesticides. Look for sprays and bombs that have IGR (insect growth regulator) this will stop fleas from reaching the level of maturity that they need to be at to lay eggs. First use the flea surface spray, making sure you spray all of the carpets and the flooring of your home.
Make sure that you pay special attention to any area that you have seen your cat sleep. Once you have thoroughly sprayed the floors it is time to set off the bombs. Bombs kill any existing fleas and larvae. Position the bombs in the middle of each room. Take time to move the furniture so the bomb can reach all of your carpet. It is very important that you wait at least a week before you vacuum again. Vacuuming to soon will not give the IGR time to work its way into the carpets.
Getting rid of fleas is a very time consuming battle. Make sure that you treat your home and your cat at the same time, or any lead way that you make with one and not the other will be in vain when you put the two back together. You have to do it though to ensure your cat will be healthy and live a long itch free life.
