Cats Are Kittens Full Of Love

Cats are amazing, loving and magical because their gifts are love, loyalty and devotion that warms your heart. When you adopt a kitten and give it your heart, they end up adopting you and letting you know how lucky you are to have them. It's been shown that people who own cats and dogs feel better both physically and emotionally and that our pets have a remarkable influence on helping us heal and cope. They make us smile, feel loved and feel good about ourselves when we care for them.

Every cat has it's own idea of how you should raise them and life ends up revolving around all the important things like feeding your kitty, kitty cat playing and they let you know when its time to change the litter box. If you are a cat owner, then you are a cat lover and it's enough to make you purr out loud!

Allow me to share with all of you animal lovers some of my favorite cat gifts, great pet shops, fun trivia and information for all cat owners and just some of the best feline information, photos and gift ideas for holidays, birthdays and I Love My Cat everyday links and videos! You can even visit my own Facebook adopted kitty and adopt your own on Cute Catz online, it's fun and free!

I Love Cats

Tuxedo Cat Charli Taking In Some Spa TimeDon't get me wrong, I'm a dog lover too. My dog lucky was THE most loving, devoted puppy ever, adopted from the streets and by our side from the day we were lucky enough to find her and have her part of our family for 15 years.

Dog owners know grooming and bathing dogs and cats is completely different. Cats care for their fur, nails and hair their own way and your job is to let them know how beautiful they are!

Cat Naps and Power Naps

My Black and White Cats NaptimeI know you have heard of cat naps, sometimes referred to as power naps. Kitties are famous for napping when they want, where they want and it may be a power nap because they have the power to take one when they feel like it. They love their sleep which may be 20 minutes or two hours. They love to sleep in your bed, a box, your couch or favorite chair. Everyone who is a cat owner knows, you don't tell cats when and where to nap - they tell you!

Tabby Cats

What I learned about Tabbies!

Tabby Cat MimiI always thought the term "Tabby Cat" was a mixed breed of cat. I learned that tabby refers to the coat pattern and this pattern can occur in all breeds of domestic cat.

All breeds of domestic cat carry the tabby gene. Our feline friends that we know and love as house cats, originated from the African wild cat. These wildcats had similar markings to those we see on tabby cats, an effective form of camouflage.

There are many variations of the tabby pattern and tabby cats can be found with stripes, spots, ticks and swirls, and in various colors - brown tabbies, silver tabbies, ginger or orange tabbies, gray or blue tabbies and red tabbies.

Why are they called Tabby Cats?

The name tabby is believed to have come from the word atabi a type of silk spun in the Attabiah region of Baghdad. This silk was exported in large quantities to the British Isles where it was noticed how similar the stripped pattern was to the coat of the tiger cat.

These tiger cats soon started to be called tabbi cats and later tabby cats.

Have a good look at the coat patterns of tabbies, often you will find wonderful arrangements of swirls, stripes and spots. A colorful tabby can be a display of cat art on four feline legs!

Too often tabbies are thought of as alley cats and deemed to be low in cat hierarchy. Anybody that has ever shared their home with a tabby will know how amusing, intelligent, and warmly affectionate, beautiful tabby cats can be.

Our cat model in the photo is my own beautiful Mimi who is a Mackeral Tabby. She is the princess of my kitties and she is not only incredibly beautiful and soft but just as loving and delightful.

Charli's Story

My Brave Little Kitten

My Charli CatCharli is my littlest kitten. She adopted us in a brave and wonderful way during one of the hottest summers we ever had. Next door to our fire station is a loading dock to a commercial building. My husband who is the fire chief said "You have to come and see this". Under the dirty nasty loading docks was a tiny kitten who would come out and yell "MEOW" every time she saw us.

We couldn't resist and felt so bad for the brave little cat that we went over and although she would meow at us, she wasn't ready to come out and play. Since it was 98 degrees outside and the little black and white and mostly dirty kitty had to be hot and hungry we left her some water and ran to get some kitten food. We checked on her that night and she gladly spoke to us, but wouldn't come out to us.

The next morning I went over to give her some fresh water and food and she came out a little further. When I spoke to her she came a little closer. I sat on the ground looking into her beautiful little eyes and told her she needed a family to love. Lo and behold the teeny tiny kitten came right out to me and started purring. I reached over and she let me pick her up! She cuddled against and said meow, as if to say where have you been - I've been waiting for you!

I brought her into the firehouse where the firefighters were excited to see the dirty little kitten and promptly called my daughter Elyse who is also a cat lover and owner and said "Help" I found something adorable. Elyse brought over some kitty shampoo and towels and Charli got her first bath at the firehouse!

We were amazed after her grooming to discover a beautiful black and white kitten with an adorable white nose (we couldn't tell it was white when we started). She let us bathe her, clean her ears and cuddle her as though she had known us forever. My husband and the firemen asked what I was going to do with her since I already had two cats. Since it was Sunday and the Vet was closed I said I would just take her home until tomorrow, yeah that's it, just for tonight.

When I brought her home my daughter Cindy took her from me and Charli wrapped herself around Cindy's neck like a fuzzy, cuddly little scarf rubbing her beautiful head against her and purring. To this day Charli's favorite cuddle is still Cindy's neck!

My other two cats were curious and somewhat territorial. The first couple of hours were spent with some hissing hello's, but Charli was so lovable and agreeable even they had to admit she was a very cool kitty.

Needless to say the only trip to the Vet's the next day was to get Charli checked and she was found healthy but underweight. She got her shots and we got a bigger litter box and alot of kitten food.

My brave little Charli cat knew we were her family the minute she saw us and we are so happy she adopted us!

Cat Food or Kitten Food?

So Many Choices!

Nutrition is very important when choosing your cat's food. Nutritional needs will change as they grow from a kitten into an adult, then change again as they mature into older cats.

Kittens require extra protein, fat, vitamins, and minerals to get all the enhanced energy they will need to grow strong and healthy.

Many vets recommend keeping cats on kitten food until they are about one years old. After that you can switch to regular cat food.

Cats are basically carnivores which means bring on the protein, light on the carbs. Some are finicky eaters and very picky, others are happy with anything you do for them.

Cats and Water

Water bowls, dishes and running water

Give your cats lots of fresh water every day throughout the day. Keep their water dishes and bowls clean because they love drinking water out of their bowls! Some cats love running water out of a faucet into a sink. They like to play with it, watch it and catch it on their paws. Some hate water to touch them and won't go near it unless it's there for them to drink.

Siamese Cat Gifts and Tee's

The Siamese is distinguished by their beautiful blue eyes and coloured points on ears, face, tail and feet, which provide a striking contrast to its light-coloured body.

Siamese were first officially exported from Thailand, or once known as the exotic Siam, in the late eighteen hundreds. The first Siamese to appear in England were a gift from Siam to an ambassador who brought them home.

With their sleek lines, striking colour contrast, aristocratic heads, deep blue almond eyes, and short silky short, the Siamese is an extremely beautiful and elegant cat. The Siamese is also considered one of the oldest breeds of all our cats. They are intelligent cats with an inquisitive personality and a loving nature. Today this ancient breed has become the most popular of all pedigree cat breeds and always a hit at cat shows.

Another distinctive feature of the Siamese is its legendary voice. They are great communicators and like no other cat speak both with their voice and with their body. Siamese are also very people oriented cats. They love company and spending time with their humans and are real lap cats. Siamese owners find the beautiful looks and social nature of the Siamese with their short coat that requires no grooming irresistible.

The Siamese is a small to medium sized slender and elegant cat with a long body, neck and tail with a long wedge shaped head.

Siamese cats are royalty and enjoy all the pampering they demand!

Firehouse Kittens Adopted!

Adopt Some Love

Adorable Kittens Adopted by Loving FamilyEvery now and then our firehouse is adopted by some kittens (see above story about my brave Charli cat above) and this year a couple of very brave, very friendly adorable kitties adopted our generator trailer shed out back. After a couple of days of giving them kitten chow and fresh water (tough firefighters have very soft hearts) they were only too happy to come on out and play with us. We all wanted to take them home and adopt them but for various reasons including I already have three cats, some guys have children with allergies or big dogs that are not cat friendly so we made it our mission to get our firehouse kittens a great home filled with love.

And we did! Our firehouse photographer took some adorable photos of the kittens, told their story and in no time at all their new family was coming to check them out. I took them inside the firehouse, they gladly let me pick them up and pet them and give them a bath so they would be all clean and proud when their new family came to adopt them. They snuggled up in their fluffy towels while we dried and combed them happy as little kittens should be. Their new family adored them on sight and they now live in a beautiful beach house on the Jersey Shore loved and loving their new family.

I love happy endings!

How to Adopt A Kitty Family

TwoYou can adopt a kitty family one cat at a time, or all together at the same time. It's wonderful if you choose to adopt family kittens all at once, they grow together into a family along with you. But it's also great to adopt a family one small kitten at a time. When we adopted my first kitten Sammy he was an adorable chubby boy cat and I had no plans to get any more. But then we saw MiMi at PetSmart with her foster family where she was up for adoption by the right family. The minute my daughter cuddled her close, she reached up and played with her bangs purring and purring and we knew, Mimi was our girl!

Two cats is really fun and then they always have company when you go out, someone to look out the window with and chase fake mouses with so I thought, two cats is perfect but that's my limit. Until Charli adopted us at the firehouse and became the littlest member of our family. The three of them love eachother and us as much as if they were from the same litter and run our house because they are our three "kiddies".

Cat Breeds

Tabby cats are wonderful, lovable and thoughtful but pure breed kitties have their special personalities too. Himalayan, persian and even Maine Coon cats are beautiful and may have some long luxurious fur and fuzzy tails that are super gorgeous but require a little more care and maintenance by the beautiful cats themselves and their owners! Loving, affectionate and always ready to cuddle up for some pampering, these felines bring out the best of their adoring owners.

Microchip Your Cat?

Lost Cat Returns Home 9 Years Later
LONDON (Sept. 10) - A couple have been reunited with their missing cat after nine years, the RSPCA said Wednesday. Dixie the cat is back in owner Gilly Delaney's arms nine years after she first went missing, Sept. 10 media reports said. The cat was identified by an embedded microchip after turning up less than a mile from her British home at the ripe old age of 15.
Microchip Your Pet By Ezine Articles
A safe and effective way to keep track of your cat is microchipping. "Microchips" are small computer chips, approximately the size of a grain of rice. The veterinarian imbeds the chip under your cat's skin, usually in the scruff of the neck, to give your cat a unique number that is used to identify your cat if it gets lost or goes missing. This minor procedure is as painless as an injection or vaccine and most cats have no reaction when they undergo microchipping. The number and information stored on the chip is used when your cat is lost and can be scanned by a microchip reader at veterinarian's offices, animal shelters and animal hospitals.
