Mesocycle #2 DVD set is the second instalment in her shock training system series. It consists of a set of 12 DVDs that work the

    1. Legs

    2. Back and triceps

    3. Chest shoulders and biceps

Unlike Mesocycle #1, Mesocycle #2 works each body part until completion before moving on to the next body part.

In other words you will do all of your chest exercises before moving on to shoulders. You will then complete all of your shoulder exercises before moving on to triceps and so on.

Mesocycle 2 main focus is on building muscles and muscle definition. In this 12 DVD series, you will be

    1.Lifting weights that is around 70-80% of your 1RM throughout the four weeks and you rep range will be around eight to twelve reps for most exercises.

    2. Engaging in different workouts each week for each muscle group.

    3. This Mesocycle has an increased intensity and the leg routines in this Mesocycle are very challenging indeed.

Cathe Friedrich Shock Training System -aka STS

STS is based on three of the most important training principles in strength training - periodization, muscle confusion, and progressive overload.

Each week you get to do two upper body workouts and one lower body workout. The whole program is designed in such a way that you do your strength training exercises 3 days in the week.

You could therefore decide to work out on M-W-F or T-Th-S and do your cardio workouts in between.

The sts program is divided into periods known as Mesocycle and each Mesocycle lasts for four weeks.

After completing each Mesocycle, you get one week off to let you body rest and recover and get ready for the next Mesocycle.

One Rep Max (1RM)

Your one rep max (1RM) is the maximum amount of weight you can lift one time for any exercise. Cathe Friedrich STS program shows you how to determine your 1RM for every exercise in the program. Once you know your 1RM for each exercise, you will be able to determine the correct weight to use for every exercise in every Mesocycle.

The Science behind Cathe Friedrich STS. - Progressive overload

Progressive overload is the gradual increase of intensity placed upon your body during a workout over a period of time.

In order for your muscles to grow, you need to continually challenge your body by increasing the intensity of your workout in very small steps.

The STS program utilises the progressive overload principle in a big way.

You start the first week of Mesocycle 1 using weights that are only about 60% of your one rep max (1RM). Then every week, except week #3, you gradually increase your weights by about 5% so that by the time you finish the entire program you will be using heavy weights that are up to 90% of your 1RM.

The result? Improved performance and endurance. You avoid exercise plateaus and boredom. No other home fitness program comes close to what you get in these Cathe STS DVD series

    3. I agree STS does not come cheap at a hefty $299 for the whole set but it is well worth the price.
