Catherine Malandrino was born in Grenoble, France.
At the young age of 8, she already knew what she wanted to do with her life, and she fulfilled that dream.
She studied @ Esmod in Paris and made a career in the fashion industry working for the house of Dorothee Biss, Louis Feraud and Emanuel ungaro. She also was the creativity behind the rebirth of the French "Et Vous" label.
In 1998 she got her debut in the United States when she met her partner and future husband Bernard Aiden. Catherine Malandrino relaunched a Diana Von Furstenberg collection in New York and in the same year Catherine launched her own label and her first collection called "Collage" in New York.
And it didn't stop there that year. The first Malandrino shop was opened in Soho. It featured warm, luxurious, citrus yellow decoration, breaking with all current trends for fashion shops. The collection became a success and more stores followed. In L.A. in 2002, New York in 2004 (2 stores actually), Paris in 2006. Several distribution deals allowed her collections to be available to not only the USA, but also Japan and Europe.

The first Catherine Malandrino collection was called "Collage" and meant the debut of Catherine with her own label.
The second collection was called "Flag" and was used by Madonna on her 2000 tour. The Catherine Malandrino boutique appeared in Sex and the City, causing the brand to flourish.
New collections kept being released under 2 lines, the regular "Catherine Malandrino" line and the more contemporary "Malandrino" line.
The collections all featured dresses, tops, skirts, shirts and shorts, but in 2006 Catherine Malandrino designed a line of shoes, handbags and accessories.
She uses all sorts of materials in the design, from synthetic polyester to more natural designs like a cashmere dress.
