Cat Litter boxes: A Comparison Of Value And Effectiveness!

Pros:
-The basic litter pan/tray can be found in stores for about $10-$20 depending on its size.
-Come in a range of sizes/colours.
-accomodates multiple cats.

Cons:
-The basic pan is wide open; no privacy for cat.
-Litter is easily spread throughout the litterbox area and your home.
-no odor control
-Other animals have access to pan.
-not an appealling look, embarrassing, you need to hide it.

Although the basic pan/tray is affordable it is not functional. Usually made of porus plastic that will trap and hold odor and moisture. Not a long lasting product. Liners are usually required. But the biggest concern with this type of litterbox is that there is not protection from spraying litter. Your cats natural instincts become your worst mess. Finally, most of the litter that ends up on the floor gets swept into the garbage, wasting unused litter.

Pros:

-Provides some privacy for your cat
-Controls some litter spray
-easy access to pan for cleaning

Cons:
-Most cats prefer dark, private spaces when using their litterbox. The basic covered box does not offer a completely enclosed, dark area.
-Your cat steps out of the litterbox onto your floor, tracking litter throughout your home.
-no odor control
-Other animals can access the litter.
-Litter spray will shoot out the door opening onto your floor.
-Door opening requires cats to step up into the litterbox. Difficult for aging cats.
-Still a litterbox you will want to hide.

-Appearance allows you to put it anywhere in your home.
-Front door opening allows for easy access to litter pan.
-Fits into most decors.
-Large enough to accomodate more than 1 cat.
-Offers your cat a more private area.

-Door enterance is a big whole right in the front.
-Requires you purchase a large litter tray to insert inside.
-No odor control
-Litter spray is deposited directly onto your floor.
-Cat has to step up into the litterbox. Difficult for older cats.
-Not really very attractive

-Never have to scoop again.
-charcoal filter to control odor

Cons:

-Litter is still required, problem of sprayed litter outside the littermaid still exists.
-What do you do if your Littermaid stops going, the cat won't.
-Replaceable parts required for operating.

Overall an innovative product, but with the cost of water and hydro; as well as the cost of the unit, the Litter Genie is costly to own and operate.

We received our Litterhouse on Tuesday, and just have to tell you how much we like it. It definitely does all that you say on your website. No more litter all over the floor, our two cats love it, and it looks great in it's location.

Before purchasing your box, we invested a lot of $$$ in a custom cabinet and Littermaid box from another company. The quality of the wooden cabinet was horrible, and the cover did not seal in litter, so it was kicked out and all around the box. That product has now made it into the dumpster.

There was only one issue that we wanted to tell you about. When my husband was putting your unit together, he said 3 of the tabs on the back "wall" were broken off. He went ahead used some "Gorilla Glue" and put them back on, and everything seems to be fine. More than likely, the package was bounced around on its long trip from Canada to Arizona, but just thought you'd like to know. Maybe in future shipments, something can be placed over the tabs to keep them from breaking.

Anyway, thanks again for creating such a wonderful product.
