There is a price to pay for fame
Your admirers want to see the full picture. They clamour for details of your family background and your youthful escapades. They want to know when you fell down as well as when you leapt up. Your fans demand to see all of you - no holds barred. They want to know what makes you tick. It's the price you pay for fame.
This then, is my Catography
The tough beginning
Abandoned by my mother, my paternity unknown, lost and lonely in the big city, I nevertheless kept my chin up and my claws sharp - I knew I had a destiny.
After some days of wandering I spotted the cottage by the creek. The exterior was humble yet clean, smoke was rising from the chimney, there was plenty of shrubbery for concealment and, better still, on the front verandah was a comfy basket just the right size for a cat. It looked inviting.
There was a large and ferocious matriarch who owned that basket and she turfed me out in no uncertain terms but after some judicious whimpering she allowed me to hang around. (I cadged some of her kibble and she didn't mind either.)
With my already developed charm and quick ability to ingratiate myself, I had the old basket-owning cat in hand in little more than a week. As for the woman in the cottage, she took less than an hour to train.
My artistic talents
Right from the start I loved to read. Fortunately the woman had plenty of books about and encouraged me in my passion. Many an evening I napped on the bookshelf, lost in far-off worlds, imagining myself as Puss in Boots or the Cat who looked at a King.
I developed a talent for writing very early. It was a result of my early abandoned days and the total immersion in the fantasy world of fictional cats.
I learned to imagine, to use the world of literature as escapism, to dream.

Blogging is a Way of Life for Me
I took up blogging originally as therapy when I lost an old feline friend. I was depressed, despondent and didn't know what to do with myself. Then I realised that the woman kept herself busy clack-clacking on her computer keyboard, stopping only occasionally to grab a tuna sandwich. Nothing seemed to worry her for long.
When she retired for the night I took a long look at what she had been doing. She was writing in a blog!
Like a thunderbolt it hit me! I, too, could write my own blog!
So, Old Cat Gossip was born.
Squidoo
In April I discovered that Squidoo has no resident cat writers!
How can people learn anything about cats if there is no one to guide them? In typical unselfish manner, I have set about to right this wrong, to plug this gap, to fill the terrible void in Squidoo.
Please allow me to show you the lenses I have made from the cats eye view.

Blindness is a significant public health issue in Cambodia. Over 160,000 people are blind and an additional 20,000 become blind each year. The main cause of blindness is cataract, which can be treated by a simple 15 minute operation at an average cost of $25 (AUD$35). (That's the price of a crayfish tail).
