Are Cats really Pets

It was really just to save a couple kittens to start. Seems it has became a way of life as we take care of more stray otherwise helpless animals. Here are the three cats we've decided to keep or did they decide to pick us?

Leopold- The Beginning

I ask why did I take this obligation? Taking in a couple pets from an otherwise miserable life for them? I for one love my cats but they are a handful.Leopold our oldest cat is about 12 years old.He was adopted after my best friend's step-dad found him and his brother at the factory. He got them just before the cat catcher did.

Fatman was but an itty-bitty baby then. We also aquired his mother but she was skittish and didn't take care of her kittens. We had to bottle feed them, cuddle them, keep them clean, and make them go potty, so to speak.Yes he was a lot of work but it has been great since. He gives hugs back and absolutely adores people for the most part.He does get an attitude if you tick him off! This can last months as I found out.

He loves roast beef, especially Arby's, and loves to sleep under the covers with me like a son. His head on my chest while he actually lays next to me.Its one of his favorite things. He is buy far the most expensive cat I've owned with operations and such totaling about $2000.Health insurance for pets came to mind after that.

Flea- The Psycokitty

Our second cat is Flea.He too was a rescue about 10 years ago. He's a very neurotic being. He has issues I tell you. Most of the time I never see this one till its time to eat.He likes to hide upstairs all day then when its time for bed down he goes.He also has this sneak to sit on you thing going on when he does make his appearance known.

Just awhile ago my friend told me she was brushing him on the porch,he freaked about something jumped off her and proceeded to act like the most feral cat you ever saw. This kitty did not want to be caught. Keep in mind these are house cats, never go outside except to the vet, and he went hysterical. He likes seafood and hollering at things that aren't there. He seems to rather enjoy cleaning himself as he works to remove his pants.Other than that I don't know.We said we would take care of him and that we do, his issues and all.

Anomoly-The Blue Eyed Rescue

Anomoly is our latest and last addition to the family. This poor kitten was born at my mothers neighbor's house and was treated like a stray. This summer I managed to catch her, a couple siblings, and found them good homes. She is one of the sweetest cats I've seen. She's not pushy towards attention but likes it. She seems to appreciate her new indoor life. So far her only quirk is treat time. Its like she never ate before, does she even taste it? When shes done with hers, its off to take the boys treats.

So I ask. Are cats really pets or do you become theirs?

While I know most of us want pets its just too easy get one. We must remember our obligation to them as owners. Treat them with respect, take care of their needs, and be rewarded with their love. Do not take any pets as a hobby it is much more than that!!

Love your lens, absolutely deserves 5 stars. I think you are right. Cats stick around if they want to stick around, they will not be owned :-) 3 Legged Cats
