Cats Do The Darndest Things!

My cat does a lot to annoy me...but ya gotta love him!

The purpose of this lens is to compile a list of things that cats do that are funny or annoying, interesting or clever. Ideally, people can come here to list those quirky things their cat does. My cat thinks he's a person. He sleeps on my shoulder most nights. Even my husband and my daughter are jealous of him (although they would never admit it) and the attention I give to him. Sometimes, I can't help how much attention I give to him because he is one pushy, spoiled rotten cat. He just thinks he's IT. For instance, in this picture, he went and laid on my daughter after she fell asleep because it looked comfortable. Normally he acts like he doesn't like her.

Below I've started a list...be sure to add to it and vote for the one you think is most funny, clever or interesting.

Note added 12/5/10: I'm so sad to add that my cat Izzy, who is featured on this lens, passed away in my arms October 26, 2010. He was just really old (17) and it was his time. I'm so glad that I got to hold him and comfort him when it happened.

They walk in a criss cross line down the stairs in front of you

I swear my cat is trying to kill me.3 points

Poussifri came running whenever he heard me cry.

Sweet P would come bounding across the room if he heard me crying; then he would jump up on me and rub his forehead against me, meowing and purring all the while. Of course the tears would cease and I'd chuckle, at which point he would sit with me a few minutes and then go about his business.2 points

Cats are users

They don't come unless they need something. Like if water or food dish is empty, or their litter needs changed. Occasionally, if they want attention.1 point

My cat goes after a flashlight beam on the wall

This is hilarious. We could spend hours doing this.1 point

My cat loves nice fresh blankets

Who doesn't? But I swear my cat can sniff this out. Everytime I lay a fresh blanket on the bed, I find him snuggled onto it seconds later.1 point

When my daughter was born, my cat peed on all her stuff

This was very upsetting indeed. We almost had to give our cat away. I used to put her baby items up or cover the high chair, walker, pac-n-play, with books or something so that he could not pee on them.1 point

My cat hacked up a fur ball into my shoe on purpose

He was trying to get my attention that his food was getting low. JUST getting low, not empty, mind you.1 point

My cat used a blanket to suck on as replacement for his mom

I think my cat missed his mom because he sucked and pumped "milk" from every blanket he could get his paws on!1 point

My cat screams at the dog

Poor dog going to get a drink, gets yelled at. Dog walking across the room, gets yelled at. Dog just "there", gets yelled at. As far as my cat is concerned, the dog doesn't belong.0 points

Cats sometimes sleep in the same place all day

I wish I had my cat's life. Sometimes, we'll leave for the day and he'll be laying down somewhere, we'll return and he's in the same spot and you can tell he hasn't moved because he's pretty much in the same position also.0 points

My cat juts out of the house undetected every chance he gets

At first, we were scared for the cat, but he is 14 and we've gotten used to it. Now when he does it we just say, "Have a nice day, Iz"0 points

My cat comes only when I call

I think this is clever - and annoying to others. I call out "Izzy-Wizzy-Kizz-Eye!" and sometimes whistle, and he comes trotting up to me.0 points

Find a nice warm coat that was maybe just thrown down on the dining room chair, and he's all over it.0 points

My cat breaks the bulbs on our Christmas tree

Every year we have to place the bulbs so they're not too low on the tree. God forbid they're dangling! We'd never see that bulb again. Come to think of it, I'm always missing lots of bulbs every year I pack away Christmas things.0 points

We can't have any plants in our house

    Any animal becomes part of the family. I had my cat for 17 years. Sadly I had to put her down due to illness. I haven't had a pet since. I am thinking that it might be time to get another cat.

    Cool lens! I used to have 2 cats named Pepe and Paco, but I moved to Mexico and had to leave them with my parents. Pepe just recently died, but Paco is doing well. He is black and fat. Now we have a dog named Viva.

    Great lens about our spoiled felines! Mine have a list of quirks too. Oh where to begin! It's funny how each of them have their own personalities. Mine sometimes act more like dogs than cats, they beg, they greet us at the door and come when called. My biggest peeve: I swear they wait for a freshly cleaned litter box purposely to mess it up again. Well done lens and thanks!

    My cat will be sitting calmly out of the way then all of a sudden when I go to walk he will run in front of me and then back in front of me so i will fall! He is so bad but you have to love him. And like igeline said I get that look that is saying what do you think you are doing? He cracks me so much on a daily basis.

    My cat loves chicken. When I was little I would eat happy meals and he would still my chicken nuggets when i wasn't looking. Of course you only get four!! I got him when i was in 5th grade and im a senior in High School.

    My grandkitty is completely black and loves to lay in the dark on one of the middle stairs so that I have nearly broken my neck tripping over him more than once. Then of course, I get the baleful, green-eyed what do you think you're doing look as though he had nothing to do with it. I had so much fun reading about your cat. 5*
