Cat Conversation
The two talking cats
- Update - Here's a music video I've made (not related to the cats though!) : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RNvYzY_k4no Stina and Mossy usually fight instead of communicate, so this was an odd moment. They kept "talking" for about 1 hour, constantly. Thanks for all the positive responses! - Update - The GEICO Gecko has found interest in our cats, and here's the result: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d-Njd_zWRdQ&feature=channel_page - Update - Alot of questions have been asked concerning their relation to each other, gender and so on. They are not related in any way, both are females, approximately 10 years of age when this footage was taken. Mossy is the one to the left, which makes Stina the one on the right side =) They are both still healthy and vigorous. - Update - What went on prior to this clip: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7z217sPIDKk - Update - Here's a nice translation: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1JynBEX_kg8

Hello !
My cat Tiggy talking / speaking saying hello
T.V Apperances so far (that I know of) include: Richard and Judy From Wednesday 20th June - Wednesday 29th August + various apperances up until the end of the show in 2008. Winner of Richard and Judys Funny5. CBBC's Chute. BBC's Lenny Henry.tv America's County Fried Home Videos. Ellen Degeneres show. My cat can say hello, she only does it when shes looking for you though once you call her or she sees you she'll stop so I had to set the camera up and leave it for awhile until she did it. She does this at least 10 times a day shes does it in the morning when she wants us to get up, in the night when shes bored and wants us to get up and when shes finished eating and want to know what room were in (which is what shes doing in this video hence the lip licking, shes cleaning them). Its nothing to do with hairballs as she never coughs up a hairball after doing it Its not because shes in heat she was spayed around 14 years ago, shes 16. Heres what I think its sounds like shes saying: "Hello, Hello, Hello, I Know Hello, Hello Hello Hello. Hello. I'm Alone, I'm on my own, I'm Alone, I know hello." For all those people who keep sending me messages asking how you can teach your cat to do this I don't know, she started doing this herself I did not teacher her to do this so have no idea how you would do this. I imagine it would be pretty much impossible to teach your cat this.

FASCINATING CATNIP INFO FROM WIKIPEDIA
Nepeta is a genus of about 250 species of flowering plants in the family Lamiaceae. The members of this group are known as catnip or catmint because of the purported effect on cats—nepeta pleasantly stimulates cats' pheromonic receptors, typically resulting in temporary euphoria and because of its corruption of the Greek word kalaminthos 'catmint, mint'. According to traditional herb medicine, catnip tends to have a sedative effect on humans.
The genus is native to Europe, Asia, and Africa. It is now also common in North America. Most of the species are herbaceous perennial plants, but some are annuals. They have sturdy stems with opposite heart-shaped, green to grayish-green leaves. The flowers are white, blue, pink or lilac and occur in several clusters toward the tip of the stems. The flowers are tubular and spotted with tiny purple dots.

Egyptian Cat Stuff
However, the Egyptians were the ones who really put the cat on a pedestal and gave it the love and respect it deserves! The cat's mystique, dignity, and ability to benefit the Egyptians by killing the snakes, rats, and mice that were eating their food supply gained it a sacred status. There were several cat dieties, but the best known was the Goddess Bastet (also known as Bast) , who was responsible for sunrise, music, dance, pleasure, fertility and birth. She was also the protector of women & children, and of all cats. She had different forms, but the most common was with the body of a beautiful woman, and the head of a cat. Cat statues were often placed outside the home to ward off evil spirits. Cats were even taken on hunting trips to marches instead of dogs, to retrieve fowl. The cat, or "miu" as they were called, was so revered that if anyone killed a cat, they were sentenced to death.
Cats are appreciated today in many cultures for their affection, intelligence, beauty, cleanliness, attitude, and rodent hunting skills. Female cats are now known to be amazing mothers, even risking their own lives to save their kittens from burning buildings. Whether you love purebreed, adopted alley cat, or rescued pound cat, having a cat definitely makes a priceless addition to your residence.

- A wonderful tour of "everything cat"! I am fortunate to actually OWN one of the cats featured here - the Turkish Van Cat on the mouse pad and elsewhere. She really IS the princess she looks, having disdain for lesser cats but a love of people.
