Are Cats REALLY Able To Be Toilet Trained?
I will admit to having had a certain degree of skepticism on my part. I love cats - and I truly don't think they ever get the recognition for being able to be trained as much as dogs. I have seen cats that have been trained very well - but I have never personally known of any that were toilet trained.
That is why I have been so intrigued by the whole thing! You go to YouTube and see hundreds of videos of cats using the toilet! Unreal! Are you thinking of trying it for yourself? I have been doing some research, and uncovered some of the basic concepts.
Basically, how it goes is for you to gradually introduce your cat to the toilet. You start them using a small container that will fit into your toilet, as the litter box. (A metal pie plate or similar works apparently!)
You set it beside the toilet, and get them used to using it, then you move it up to the toilet. Make sure it is secure, and that you are using flushable litter! They should eventually get used to sitting on the edge of the toilet - and you will cut a hole in the container once they are making some progress.
This will get them used to their "waste" falling into the toilet, and the resulting "splash". You keep making the hole bigger, until it is gone.
Your cat should be using the toilet!

I know mine could have been. My cat is, unfortunately, very old and I am enjoying my last couple of years with him. I am not going to even try putting him through the training - he has arthritis so bad, I don't think he would be able.But, I will be trying it with my next one! So, I have already done the research and can't believe how easy it really can be! I am sure that some cats will be more stubborn than others, and there is no way of knowing how long your cat will take - but all of the evidence proves that it can be done!
Imagine! No more smelly litter box, no more cleaning the litter box.....wouldn't that be incredible?
