What are the causes of snoring and what can you do about it?
If you live with a person who snores as 2 out of 3 partnered adults do then you know how disruptive it can be. When the passage of air through the back of the nose and mouth is disrupted, snoring occurs. This disturbance of the airflow that results to snoring takes place at the place where the tongue and upper throat meet called the uvula. The uvula is the soft tissue that hangs from the palate.
One possible cause of snoring is weakness of the the upper throat muscles. When these muscles are weak, the soft palate, tongue, and uvula droop and disrupt the passage of air. Then as air is pressed through them, they create vibrating motions which produce the bedroom noise we know as snore. And this is what causes snoring.
One of the best cures for snoring is easy and all natural: simple exercises that strengthen weak muscles of the neck and tongue and eliminate the problem. Exercises that strengthen throat muscles and the tongue are quick and easy and you'll see quick results.
The exercises to strengthen the jaw tongue and throat muscles are simple and fast. In five minutes a day over a course of two weeks you will notice a dramatic improvement.

Snoring Is Not Funny
Snoring can be a warning sign of serious health problems such as OSA (Obstructive Sleep Apnea)
Studies show that OSA wanes among people who begin exercise programs, regardless of weight loss.
Sleep Apnea, Snoring mouthpiece, CPAP, Snoring Surgery
Your doctor will probably recommend an expensive sleep study to find out if you have apnea. This will be followed by a CPAP machine and if that doesn't work, a dental mouth piece and possibly surgery.
My suggestion is take the book in and talk to your doctor about this sensible exercise program before you get so deep into all of this expensive treatment.

Are There Cures For Snoring? You Betcha
Are there cures for snoring? You probably already know that snoring possibly means you have sleep apnea and all of the dangerous things that may go with that -- from just being tired all the time to high blood pressure, weight gain, and a host of things. It's bad stuff.Your doctor will send you for a sleep study that will cost you a lot even if you have good insurance and then it's likely that you will get an expensive (even after your insurance pays their part) CPAP machine (continuous positive airway pressure).
Oxygen flow is reduced as your throat muscles relax and your airway is restricted. These machines help hold the airways open while you sleep by blowing air into your nose. They help some while others have wasted their money. Still others do not have access to CPAP due to the prohibitive costs.
Bill's snoring added so much stress to our marriage. Until I found your program I was at my wits end, probably heading for divorce. I'm amazed at how quickly your suggestions worked. We are both so very grateful.

Getting To Know Snoring Better
Although snoring seems to be quite prevalent among a number of people, it
remains to be an abnormal sleep phenomenon. Statistics show that around 45%
of adults experiences snoring from time to time while a significant 25% of the
population are reported to be habitually snoring.
Snoring may affect people coming from any age group. However, men seem to be
more prone to experiencing this condition. Although snoring may not be as
serious as the other medical conditions, it still should be given attention as it does
not only have certain health implications, it may also be quite emotionally and
socially disturbing.
Snoring basically takes place when there are physical impediments that affect the
flow of air through the mouth and nose during sleep. The unusual sound produced
is mainly due to the vibration of the throat muscles as the air passageway is
blocked. The obstruction may be observed in any of the following areas:
%u2022 Nasal passages. Blockage in these passages results to difficulty in breathing.
Extra effort is necessary. With this, the soft tissues of the throat may collapse
which, in turn, may further cause snoring. Given this, people with sinus infections,
colds, or allergic rhinitis are reported to be snoring.
%u2022 Throat. Some people, by nature, have very relaxed or soft throat muscles
which collapse easily. As the muscles collapse, the air passageway narrows,
resulting to the unusual sound produced. Furthermore, those who have bulky
throat muscles are likewise prone to snoring since the air passageway is narrower
than the ideal.
%u2022 Opening from the nose going to the throat. A long palate or even long uvula
significantly narrows down this particular opening. Also, given the fact that the
tissues and muscles are situated closely to each other, they hit each other during
breathing.
Other deformities in the structure of the mouth and surrounding areas may also
lead to snoring. For instance, a malpositioned jaw may negatively affect the
overall movement of the mouth leading to muscular tension that results to unusual
flapping of the other mouth and throat tissues.
Indeed, snoring is such a disturbing condition that needs attention. In addition, it
can be an indication of a more serious medical condition such as sleep apnea.
Although this may not always be the case, it is still ideal that one seeks treatment
as soon as the symptoms are observed so that if in case it indeed has other
medical implications, it can be addressed early on. Furthermore, since snoring
occurs during sleep, it prevents a person from having quality rest every night
which he may or may not be conscious of. This explains why some snorers
complain of drowsiness or headaches during the day which are, obviously, effects
of a disturbed sleep.

Snoring Health Hazard - Causes of Snoring In Middle Age
by Renee Pullman
Whether you snore a little or a lot, snoring is taking its toll on your body.In addition to being sleepy and perhaps more accident prone, there is growing evidence that snoring affects our health. In fact, Hungarian researchers have suggested that heavy snorers are at a significantly higher risk of developing acute cardiovascular problems.
And, according to Press TV, the Journal Sleep reported that loud snorers are 34% more prone to having a heart attack, and 67% more prone to strokes.
Furthermore, a report from the University of California School of Dentistry found that 21% of men who snore had hardened blockages in there carotid arteries. (Carotid arteries carry oxygen to the brain.)
So you see, not only does snoring put a strain on social relationships, but snoring can also be a health risk. And you (or your snoring partner) need something better than a patch-job solution.
Because, as people age, throat muscles relax (like our other body parts) which increases snoring. And, as people gain weight, fatty deposits can narrow their throat, so it's harder to breathe, causing people to snore more often.
That's why snoring may start at mid-life and gradually worsen as we age. The more relaxed the muscles are, the more they vibrate. And, it's that vibration which is loud and disturbing.

Snoring And Your Weight - Get Snore Relief
by Renee Pullman
As your body gains more and more weight, fat deposits develop not only in the throat but eventually in the nasal cavity as well. These obstructions cause snoring to become more of a problem. Obesity is becoming a buzzword in this country and is often blamed formany different problems in the human body, but the problem with obesity and snoring is the vicious cycle it creates.
Obesity is dangerous for your health-even life-threatening. The heavier you are, the louder you'll snore. The problem is-and this is the vicious cycle-obesity increases your snoring, and snoring makes it more difficult for you to sleep peacefully and deeply. Lack of sleep-not spending enough time in REM and deep sleep patterns-is associated with an increase in weight. Basically, once the pattern of weight-related snoring
begins, it can actually continue to make itself worse.
Snoring can be vastly exacerbated by obesity. Fat deposits in the area of the throat restrict the airway, put increased pressure on the airway, and are virtually guaranteed to cause some snoring. Obesity is one of the most common, correctable causes of snoring.
Loosing weight is your best course of action to get past this cause of snoring. While the exercises we advocate will bring you some snore relief, realistically a weight loss program is your answer. This means a life style change, diets don't work, you need to find a way to increase your activity while eating smarter.
Perhaps we'll add a lens on weight control and lifestyle change in the future but for now I'll just say look at the South Beach and Mediterranean diets for advice on eating and look at an activity program that gets you out and moving 4 or 5 days a week. You should consider some kind of weight training. There is nothing better for busting fat than to start building some muscle mass. Muscle will burn the calories and get you body started on a weight busting path.
If you are obese, this is the best way to snore relief.

Your Body's Defense Is Causing Your Snore
A Pinch Of Salt May Stop Your Snoring
Histamines are released by the body in order to fight off harmful invasions, usually in the form of allergens and potassium. As a matter of fact, we usually feel the effects of the histamine because our nose gets stuffy or we may have additional mucus in our throat and lungs. If the histamine is not kept in check in one way or another, it may cause problems for us that would cause us to snore. How can you tell it have a problem with histamines? Actually, you would probably be surprised with the answer.
Most commonly, our body will release histamines because of the foods and drinks that we ingest. If we take too much potassium into our body, it will naturally release histamine in order to counteract it. That is, unless, we balance it out with the most powerful natural antihistamine available, salt. The next time you are eating and you find that you are clearing your throat or blowing your nose, put a pinch of salt underneath your tongue. If the symptoms go away within just a few moments, you can guarantee that you are dealing with the body's natural release of histamine.
How can this help you to sleep better and stop snoring? If you know that you are snoring because your body is releasing histamine into your system, you need to counteract it with salt. You also need to make sure that you are drinking enough water so that the salt does not damage you in the process. It may take a little bit of time for you to balance all of this out but my drinking water and taking salt, you may just find that you are getting some quality sleep for the first time in a long time.
